I've read a few of these posts of the years and the opinions seem to be 50/50.
For it: "It's federally required, it helps keep people safe, and it's not that noticeable."
Against it: "It's obnoxious"
I understand the intent behind the law but my issue with it is that modern ICE cars are just as quiet these days and they are not required to beep when in reverse. When you're in a busy parking lot, can you really hear a Toyota Camry backing up? - No, you cannot. So why are EV's exclusively required to have this feature?
This seems like a perfect example of legislation that was not thought all the way through or written by someone who doesn't know what they're talking about.
