Getting a head start on Turkey day cooking, Turkey in the oven and sides are cooking. Then someone hit a transformer outside neighborhood so we lost power. I have a gas stove but it needs a little juice to run the electronics. After a few WTFs, I remembered I have a Powerboost. May just have to look in to a more permanent solution. Turkey is cooking again and beer in the fridge is still cold. Also I was able to crack the garage door enough to slide the power cords under it. FYI I have the 7.2kw pkg.

Another reason to be thankful ... that you had the foresight to get the 7.2Kw PB! Congrats on saving Thanksgiving.
If you havent thought about it already, consider a manual transfer switch. Some planning with an electrician and lots of good info on here to help.
I put in a Generac transfer switch and if power goes out, I can be connected to the truck and running on backup power in about 4-5 minutes.

2.4kw more than enough to handle a fridge and a gas stove. 7.2kw is more like a whole house solution.

Don't let your neighbors see! Or all the PB naysayers on here!
Yeah my neighbor came outside and asked how I got the garage door open. I just smiled and said I plugged it into my truck. She looked confused.:ROFLMAO:

I'm sure this heartfelt story will be told at dealers around the country when walking past the allmighty powerboosts on the lots.

Pretty cool though forreal.

Congrats on you and your PB for saving Thanksgiving, sure the family is delighted. I have the 7.2 and previously had the transfer switches installed in my meter, primarily for my portable generator during hurricane season. Now that I have the 7.2 PB, I just need a longer cable to run from the truck to the box.... then, if need be, for long durations, I can alternate between my portable 12.5 Kw and the PB 7.2, depending on what needs to be run...Cheers and Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Rabble! Rabble!! They will hear the truck running!

Nice things come in handy for sure! We got a big genny after a freak snow storm with the idea to run the wood boiler and blower fan on the central heat and air. Only issue was they didn't have any of the adaptors for the 240 plug. Got one years later when I got a mig welder. Then I got the idea of just making a drop cord to backfeed it into the dryer outlet......then saw the wire I needed was $5 a foot.... nope!

Did you educate her on how to open the door without electricity? Just pull on the disconnect.

True, but my door is heavy and I am a weakling so it needs power to open. :)
