Looking at the guide it appears the constraint is the refresh rate limitations on CarPlay, not forbidding engine data. OBDLink native app on the iPhone is clearly not refreshing quickly, certainly not real time. Spent a lot of time with CarPlay this Summer. It is not stable. I got lots of crashes and odd behavior.

I was referencing item 4 on page 8. It would be very nice to figure out a way to get the gauges onto the big center screen.... but I am not hopeful at this point.

There was an announcement that CarPlay was going to extend to the engine instrument cluster. However, I would guess it will be locked out for developers.

FreightLiner truck digital instrument panels can be field configured moving gauges and setting up widgets but they do not allow the owner to do that, only the OEMs.

Ford is missing in action on this issue. There is no reason they could not allow owners to toggle advanced displays including trouble codes for owners to view. This would make troubleshooting at the dealers so much easier with these intermittent failures.

I notice a significant refresh increase with an OBDLink EX (usb interface) over the MX (Bluetooth)

This is true for all applications. OBDLink mobile app, Forscan Lite, as well as Forscan full version on Windows.

The Ngauge (HPTuners) is hardwired to the OBD interface and it's refresh rate is stunningly fast. The oil pressure reading is so fast that you literally see the value changing multiple times per second.

On Android you can use the OBDLink EX usb interface, but it adds a wire into the mix and I don't bother.

Apparently, I spoke too soon about the mapping of PIDs when importing a dashboard.
Earlier when I tried, ones that didn't map defaulted to "Speed," but I finally remembered to connect the app with @turbopilot 's dashboard... the labels are right, but I am not getting any values for some of them:

Weird looks like you are not getting some of the PID's from the BCM and BECM. Are set up as PB 2021 or a PB 2022?

That's the thing... If I set it up as a 2021 (which it is), the dashboards didn't import right (lots of Speed panels replacing the ones that were supposed to be there). But, I said mine was a 2022 and they all imported correctly, but now the PIDs aren't getting picked up.

I am going to look at your previous post where you listed all the PIDs and see if something is amiss after my import... or if I switch mine to a 2021 now that I've imported the dashboard, the planets will align and it'll just work.

I have had glitches I could not fix. Just delete the app and start over.

Yeah… I’ve imported so many dashboards that it thinks I have a 2021 Powerboost, a 2022 truck and a 2016 Mazda!

I think you’re right… time to “nuke and pave “!

I also had issues importing for my 2021. Nuke and reload didn't seem to help. However, editing by holding down over any "Speed" displayed items to manually change the PIDs worked fine. The original post was very helpful in pointing out exactly which ones they need to be switched to.
