PB MPG, Outside temp, matters more than fuel grade.

2023 PB 501a 4x4 short bed 7.2KW. PL=1658lbs.
Unless towing in the mountains, I normally run Tier 1, 87 octane.

We're still on winter grade fuel. Or would have been, when I last fueled in prep for a coming storm. Hell, it seems we were in single digits just days ago but yesterday, it was 80F+and I had to make an errand run of about 30 miles, with 4 legs. Trips ranged between just shy of 24mpg, to nearly 29.

In the cold (<=20F), its more of a mid to upper teens result.

And one trip isn't enough to hang your hat on but I may have found that AC use, affects how long it can stay in electric mode. My favorite little creek bottom, where I frequently cross a couple miles, solely in electric mode, had a short lived but ICE engine start, in the middle.

Ambient temps and tire choice have swung my PB wildly too.

Same weather in the Ozarks, and my last two tanks of fuel (87 from Shell) were both in the 21-mpg area. That was a huge improvement from the previous tires I was running along with the cooler weather. I drove 50 miles or so after work yesterday, with speeds from 35-55 mph and I ended up at 28 mpg. That was my best average over that long of a trip.

If I had gone with the Michelins over the Nittos I probably would see better MPG's on the interstate, but I'm very happy with my choice right now.

My winter mpg is 12.92! A lot of remote starts.A lot of sitting in the truck during breaks and a lot of short trips. Also add the fact that the truck is levelled and rubbers are 285/65R20s

Temp for sure makes a huge difference.

winter mpg is not so great.

we had 2 days around 65 the other week and my mpg went way up those 2 days.

got cold again and it went back to garbage again.

I assume it’s running the heater more and generating heat to warm the battery.

I’m curious about tire choice too. Leaning toward HT from the AT that came on the truck.

Check out the Michelin Defender LTX MS2. That will be my next tire if my Nittos don’t last.

My new G3s haven't given me the bump in MPGs I was expecting given they're slightly smaller and 14lbs lighter per tire. Not sure if there is a wear in period or what but if they don't bump me a few mpgs over the next two weeks or so I'll be headed back to DT to swap for those Michelins.

Hmm, I’ve been getting great MPG’s with mine…….but temp is definitely the biggest factor.

My last two tanks have been 21.1 and 21.3 mpg which is better than I got with the BFG TrailTerrain SL rated tires that came with it. Those were the factory 20’s, but I only drove on them for a couple weeks so it was a very small sample size.

If you want max MPG’s with decent all weather performance, Michelin is the best option.

It's warming up in Toronto and I am starting to get great mpg even with the truck being levelled, running on oversized LT tires and having a full Talon garage plate. I think, in my case, the biggest factor for poor mpg during winter months has been the remote starts and sitting in the truck for extend amount of time while enjoying the warmth of the heater, seat and steering wheel heater while listening to my radio station. Everyone knows this but it is worth mentioning again and that is, one shouldn't purchase a 6000lbs American beauty if mpg is important to them. Be it ICE or Hybrid.
