I just checked my WiFi after I got yet another failed update notice and it is off for some reason even though I always have it on. I turned it back on and expect it to be off again after the next failed install. This update is garbage and failed 6 times now.

I was connected to WiFi and it was disconnected when it started to try downloading update then reconnected afterwards. Just demonstrates to me that it isn't bothering to use WiFi for updating. Seems we are all stuck using FDRS for any IPC updates. Annoying, but they don't seem to update that very often.

Agreed, as much as Ford keeps touting wifi they apparently don't ever use it for updates. I've completely given up on the idea that they will ever send an update via. Wifi, and nolonger worry about being connected to wifi. To date every update the truck received, at least "download portion" happened in the parking lot where I work 500 feet from a very large ATT cell tower.

It is not the update. It is most likely your truck. Mine and several others, too. I was talking to Jesse about 4.3.2 failing over and again without even attempting to download the files and he says he has come across trucks having bad connections at the ethernet port on the IPC. He has had the IPC out of the truck on his work bench and he still can't get the updates to go through via ethernet. They have to be CAN'd in with FRDS.

This is most likely why the 2.7.x updates kept failing on my truck since those are IPC updates, too. I had to install them via FDRS and these updates will be the same case. If you don't have a Mongoose and you have had this update fail 6 times, you can take it to your dealer and they can check PTS to see that and maybe they will do it for you.

I have had the same sorts of issues with WiFi connectivity. I always had it on but one day noticed it was off. Took me 2-3 attempts to get it reconnected.

It has been connecting and checking in with Ford every evening at ~6:30pm. Went to dealership for oil change today. Came home and looked at my mesh network monitor and there was no activity after I left. Checked truck and WiFi was turned off. Can’t imagine the tech would have any need to turn it off…. Turned it back on, but like everyone else, most/all of my recent updates have come via cellular when I’ve been away from home.

Mon a related note, I read the thread talking about the Ford OTA specialist telling someone to set their parking brake…. Is that required for updates that have no inhibit required? I tried setting it just to see if it would make a difference.

Inhibited update the transmission in park and truck off. Parking brake is never necessary.
Battery voltage is a factor but I think the low limit is 12v and any battery not failing should be above that easily with ignition off.

Yes, that’s what others have said and I have never set it…. Just wanted to see if the “official” recommendation had changed.

Thanks

Most here ignore the Ford bot posting random things. :)

Yes, that boy is a waste. In this case, I thought I had read a post that the live Ford OTA specialists somebody spoke with on the phone told them to engage the parking brake and the poster reported success that evening…. Who knows…. Sounds like a pipe dream to me….

Are the 4.3.x updates only for Lariats and above? I haven't seen anyone mention getting it with an XLT or below in any of the threads yet and my 302A XLT hasn't received an update since 4.2.4 months ago.

I'm not sure. I know I have '21 Job 1 900A trim and have not received any 4.3.x updates.

The 4.3.x updates are for the IPC, so not sure if the XLT's that don't have the digital display will see those. Good question. I will keep an eye out for that. It has not been sent to many trucks yet, so there is still a small sample size out there.

What are the updates associated with 4.3.x? I received 4.2.4 update on May 9th and nothing since then on my PB with a 12" digital IPC.

Nothing. They are IPC updates to prep the truck for future updates. You will not see anything different with any of these updates.

4.3.5Jun-23Minor updates here and there. Some minor fine-tuning so your vehicle can easily install the more detailed updates coming down the road.IPC
4.3.3Jun-23We’ve recently completed an improvement to the trailer and tailgate settings for your Ford F-150® truck.IPC
4.3.2May-23A minor change so your vehicle can easily install the more intricate updates coming in the future.IPC
