Has anyone else been disappointed by the poor quality of temperature control in their new 150?? My new F-150 XLT auto climate control is the poorest regulating auto system I have used. I’m not sure if my truck has a problem or if it is just a poorly designed system.
I am constantly having to adjust the indicated temperature to keep the cab comfortable. I have done as the manual suggests and set 72 then make small changes from there. If the cab is hot the system doesn’t increase air volume and it never cools down. If I use max air and cool it down when I go back to auto 72 it can’t seem to stabilize anywhere near that temperature. I have the fan set on max auto.
I know Ford can build an auto climate control that works… I had one in an Explorer.
Just wondering before I take it to a dealership.

my 16 expedition would freeze you out and auto worked quite well, but it had rear ac and roof vents

i have issue with the lack of consistent temps in the cabin. my 21 250(traded) and now the 22 have the same issue. feels to me the heat from the dash flows out to me and the system is just not getting COLD
air volume from side vents seems paltry. i tried removing the cabin air filter to see if it changed, it felt the same.
IMO the new refrigerant and our vary speed compressor just does not get as cold
i can get 37 to 40f out of my wifes 2012 edge and only 52 in the 22 150 on max ac
when its 100 and above outside it feels like it never really gets chilly.
i stopped using auto and leave the temp to 65 and fan at 5 or higher

forget driving into the sun, its a no win. maybe the glass is different?

i need to make a service appointment i think.

Mine freezes me out. I usually have it set around 69-71. But sometimes I’ll have to raise it to like 73-74 after a while cause it gets cold. If it’s 100 degrees out and I hop in the truck hot, the fan blows hard for 5ish minutes by then the cab is cooled down. During this time I could hit max A/C and it only seems to go up maybe 1 level in fan speed. I sometimes have to change it to auto medium. After the cab cools a bit.

This is coming from someone who has never found a “good” vehicle A/C system, until now. I’m always roasting…

For a data point, my truck is a Powerboost so the A/C is a bit different. I’d be interested to see if the compressor has more capacity than a gas engine 150 due to being used to cool the battery coolant

Hey there! I can look into your F-150’s climate control concerns on my end if you’d like. Will you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership info?

Yes, I have the same exact problem. 2nd trip to dealership tomorrow. One guy described it as “incomprehensible” exactly!! So frustrating, had many other ford vehicles that worked perfectly. I had a loaner 2021 f150 like mine, it worked perfect.

My heater just blow’s extremely hot air or just cold. It never works even close to the needed temperature. Dealership “recalibrated” the system but still the same issue. For $65,000 and less than 2,000 miles the trucks climate control system should work.

Yep until this week I thought mine worked great...mind you it has been mostly AC. Now that I have to use the heater...its either too hot or blows cool air. Thought it was user error until I read this. Even seems like if I turn it off...it still blows hot air.

I am having this problem with my heat when in auto mode as well. I have auto on the highest setting and the A/C selected, but even when set to 65, the cab temp feels closer to 75. Could it be a temperature sensor issue?

It doesn't seem accurate in mine. I set it to 67 to be comfortable in the summer, 68 in the winter. Seems like it's about 3 degrees off from any vehicle I've used before.

Same. Every vehicle I've had with auto climate control I have set to 71 and never had to touch it again. Even my 21 Ford F-250 was consistent at 71 degrees F.

Yeah, same issue here. Constantly adjusting fan speeds or temp to stay comfortable especially when its very hot or cold out and not just a normal SoCal day.

I don't know of anyone who is overly impressed with the Ford auto-HVAC system.

I have another, older, non-Ford vehicle that has an auto-HVAC, and it works beautifully - it is pretty much like a thermostat in the house - except in the house, you have to physically switch between Heat and Cool. In this other car, you don't even have to do that! We rarely have to change the temp, and if we do, it is typically only a degree or two. This other vehicle was my first one with an auto-HVAC system, so I (mistakenly) assumed that was the way they all worked.

When I got my '22 Lariat, I just assumed that the auto-HVAC worked similar to the first one I experienced in my older car. Not. Even. Close. The functional operation of so-called "auto" is so poor, that I have pretty much abandoned the "auto" aspect, and operate it like an old-school manual system. And as a result, I am much more comfortable.

Hopefully, they come up with a fix for this as both my prior 2011 and 2015 (non-Ford) vehicles never had this issue. In fact, I don't recall it being a problem with my wife's 2013 Ford Edge either.

I had also posted not long ago as my truck is doing the same.

Unfortunately I suspect this is "normal" operation.

I'm still playing with it but I think I've got it mostly licked so far. We'll see once it gets truly cold out here (been in mid 20s in mornings and it is working OK for me).

Auto mode on fan speed 1
63 degrees
Once cab warms up, then I have to usually turn it up to about 65-66.
Augment with the heated seat. Ha.

If I have it really any higher fan speed or higher than 63 or so the cabin, and especially my feet, get blazing hot.

Auto fan speed 3 and set-and-forget seems to work just fine in the hot weather tho.
