My youngest son and his wonderful bride are both alumni of The institution that has been so enriched by the support of The King Ranch. So yes, lots of heritage, history, and culture that touches close to home for us. :)

And that saddle shop is the best smelling spot in the whole state! Lol
HA! In a previous work life I had to travel to one of our plants in TX to do some work. I had to drive to some customers that were quite a distance away. All I remember was driving for what seemed like a thousand miles with nothing but cattle and cattle business on both sides of the road. A nice smelling leather shop would have been heaven compared to that.

Best fried catfish I ever ate was at the H3 Ranch restaurant in the stockyards outside of Fort Worth many years ago.

I'm looking at platinums. 701 A has the 8 speaker sound system like an XLT. Why? For a hefty $6k more you can get 6 more speakers and a moon roof. They don't even have HUDs correct? What is Ford doing? I want the 18 speakers back for 72k, not 8 speakers for 76k. This is ridiculous.
And all ther addons reduce capacity substantialy, in some cases from 1600 pounds to 1000 pounds. And sunroofs leak eventually

Hey! I won’t tolerate Eddie Bauer trim hate :). I loved my Eddie Bauer Expedition EL. It was ahead of its time for 2007, and I miss the heated and cooled (actually cooled and not ventilated seats). Those seats would make you shiver, in 2015 they stopped putting in real coolers and just did a fan. Not nearly as effective.

Maybe it was just the midwest / Nebraska / Iowa areas that had them but I recall seeing the Harley Davidson editions a bit around the 2008 era.. also you have the Shelby and Henessey though too

I love my 701a I ordered in 2022 and while I waited for a bit I did get one of the last builds w/o any deletes.

I ordered a platinum mostly for the Body Colored Bumpers and the power running boards.

If I was to do it today I would order a BAP Lariat. Gets me body colored bumpers, I would miss out on the power boards but no way that alone is worth the price premium for the 701a.

It's been a mess since around May 2022 Build dates. I was VERY fortunate to have gotten a 2022 Job2 KingRanch that did NOT have the infamous Job2 deletes. It was built just a few days into Job2, and I'm guessing Ford had some component inventory leftover from Job1? I have no other explanation for how the truck arrived fully equipped, short of 1 tiny chip in the IPMA that nixed Park Assist.

I am so disappointed for my Blue Oval brothers who desire KingRanch/Platinum/Limited trim since. They aren't getting everything they are supposed to get and it sully's the value equation a bit.

I'm just amazed that at this point post-Covid that the components are still restrained.
Ford even nixed the Glare Free feature on projector headlights. I feel fortunate to get my fully loaded Tremor 402A fully loaded but like you missing the Park assist (although switch was still installed).

I don't need that Park Assist chip for Park Assist. But I might someday swap the IPMA for one with the chip just so I can parlor trick Hitch Assist. ?

Each trim level has different seats; different shapes, materials and bolstering.

We tried them all (Lariat to Limitied) in 2021 and liked the Platinum seats the best.

To me, it stinks of some accounting types going "Well its still selling for a premium without the added cost to actually include the features, keep shipping it as it is."

I've done the park assist as a parlor trick, the steering wheel spinning around like a demon possessed vehicle freaks passengers out and is worth the effort of putting back in. :D

That said, I've used that feature a grand total of 5 times in 2 years of ownership.

Don't worry--it's not the trim we hate, but celebrates and froo-froo designers!

hmm, is there a viable aftermarket option that would still work off of a single remote?

I haven't looked at compatability with the 14th gens but in the past Ford used Amp Research boards. I believe some of the trucks come pre-wired and you can do the necessary programming with ForScan. May be a good option going forward.

would there unused buttons on the remote, then? or is the step done with multiple buttons?

I'm 64 years old. When I was a kid, a vehicle equipped with a V8, AT, PS, PB and AC was considered an upper trim level. PW, PDL, disc brakes, and Cruise were only on luxury cars.

How far we have come.
I'm 70 and my first car didn't have PS, PB, PW, PL , AC, FM radio (AM only) and no cruise. Now I have a lawn tractor that has power steering and cruise control. Weird huh?

There is no button on the remote for the power running boards. They deploy based on a few events:

Unlocking the truck /w the key fob
A door opening
Physically approaching the truck if the approach lighting is turned on
Manually deploying them by kicking the foot sensor on the board itself.

So in theory you could add them and then use ForScan to enable them in those above events.
