I love how they didn't put an extra tiny bit of metal on it so that it would be impossible to put on a key ring without drilling a hole in it

Locks glovebox, console, under seat storage, etc.... I drilled hole in it and put on a key ring. Less chance of getting lost.

Yes, it locks and unlocks everything. It is keyed to the vehicle.

But, why? ?‍♂

My guess it that it's a last ditch emergency spare.

That's why its keyed the same and doesn't have a means to put it on a keyring.

It can be hidden in a key vault outside the vehicle if needed, without activating anything unlike the key fob.

Also, you can put slightly more torque on it than you could the key fob one to open locks/spare tire plug/ storage bin, etc.

Mine will be hidden somewhere in my house that I will never remember if I need it.

I'll pay crazy amounts of money to a locksmith/Ford dealer to get in my truck and get new programmed fobs to get it running.

Then, years down the road and three trucks later, I'll run across it and have no idea what it was ever for since it is not marked. ?

Probably not, but I'm willing to bet that the magnets will still stick to the framework.
