Phantom update notification.

I know one of the last few OTA's was supposed to fix the Phantom Update message, and it did stop them for a while on my truck, but they are back and as annoying as ever. Is anyone else getting these phantom update messages? Thanks.

I did this morning. I have found that if it is still showing after a couple of start cycles then it is valid. If it disappears after the next key cycle, it is a phantom. Fords way of playing with your mind. Gotten use to it.

Yep, what’s annoying is they didn’t START for me until this latest round of updates.

Happens weekly now, with the screen freezing at least once or twice a week as well.

On a cross country trip last week I had those phantom updates appear twice, both times about 1000 miles from nowhere. Each time the head unit magically rebooted itself while I was driving and then pressed on like nothing happened.

I saw the one guy here did a factory reset and didn’t get another phantom. I did the same a little over week ago and no phantom yet, I put about 150 miles on it yesterday. It would’ve been highly likely for me to have gotten one by now. Also Dropped out of eap, turned off auto install for ota.

I've been getting phantom updates about twice a week since I successfully updated to 23-PU1009-SS-NS on May 1st. I've been hoping the next update would fix this and was hopeful today when I started my truck and my center console screen froze, and my instrument cluster had reset to factory (gauge setup, MyView options, etc) which is usually an indicator that an update has gone through.

Imagine my disappointment when the same update info shows up.

Apparently 23-PU1009-SS-NS has once again broken my OTA updates, and now the phantom updates are just being vicious.

I've been getting the phantom update notice for months. Really tired of it. OCD me is very annoyed by it.

Apparently 23-PU1009-SS-NS has once again broken my OTA updates, and now the phantom updates are just being vicious.

It didn't break anything. The phantom update message will not prevent another OTA from being sent to you. It's just annoying.

Well, I got an update. It reset the apim and reset the number of radio preset pages AND resorted the saved presets. I didn't loose any presets, but they are in different slots. Talk about annoying! Update ECG-24.2.4.9
