Phantom updates!!

What determines who and when an update occurs OTA? It’s strange to me that everyone doesn’t receive them at the same time, but instead they seem greatly spread out over time. Some say they never get them. What is the key factor in someone getting the update?

That's a million-dollar question. There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to what trucks get what updates and when.

I haven't had an update since 2023, at least you get updates. Haha

I had same, dealer replaced gateway module in October and that has fixed issues.

I did another round of updates with fdrs and it didn’t solve my issue. I tried to avoid it but did a factory reset on the center stack and should be good for a while.

That resolves a surprising number of issues. Phantom updates are supposed to be fixed in one of the updates going OTA that isn't released for everyone yet. Hurry up and wait as usual. It isn't unlocked for my VIN yet in FDRS.

I'm getting them too. Seem to be stuck on 6.5 which originally came in September. Nothing new since.

Maybe I should try the reset and see if it helps

Is that reset the one where you press the volume and forward buttons ( I think that’s the buttons lol) at the same time?

No. It’s factory reset in the menu. I think it’s under general. You will have to go through config your phone and ford pass like the day you bought your truck…

Same here. Constantly getting the update scheduled notifications but when I click on it, it shows the update has already been completed and it’ll disappear. Then a few days or weeks later will come back.

I use to get the phantom updates. Then I took the truck in for random camera/Sync issues. They performed TSB 23-2416 and updated the GWM, APIM, TCU, IPMA & IPC. I no longer get the phantom updates.
