I’m out of state traveling (picking up my new-to-me ‘22PB) and have thought about this quite a bit. If you can wait a few days I’ll try to remember to follow up when I have more then a phone and share my conclusions then.

I don’t think you will have the payload with a PB. I have a 21 PB Platinum FX4 every option except max recline seats and my payload is terrible, I didn’t realize it like most that it would be an issue. I didn’t understand how payload mattered until after I bought a rv. Now I am debating buying a super duty. This is my stickers and weight sheet with a Ember 201FBQ (5,255lbs dry) (GVWR 7250) with myself, daughter, dog and usual under seat tools in the truck, nothing in the bed. Approximately ~700lbs tounge weight. I have towed twice now with this setup, adjusting weight and the truck does just fine but I can tell the trailer is there and being limited by payload that I can’t take anything else is a problem. If towing ~1600lbs is your goal, I would look at a F250 so you have extra payload to bring “things”. I would not recommend a PB. Also the hybrid does nothing for fuel economy when towing.

I have 21 PB Platinum FX4 4x4 GVWR is 7350 lbs. I have 1323# Payload - 165#s bedcover/liner. My TT is 4400# fully loaded with around 650 lbs tongue weight. I have to make sure I have the cargo in the trailer and not in the bed. My WDH helps some and when I tow I don't really feel the trailer behind. Here is my latest cat scale numbers. I've got the WDH dialed in. Moved weight off my rear drive axle to front axle and that helped a lot.

Yeah I could adjust the WDH but I would still be over my GVWR, only thing I could remove from my truck would be the tools under the back seat. I will try adjusting my WDH again and see if that helps, Thanks for the idea! At least you are under the GVWR by 110lbs but, that’s not a lot of wiggle room. Which is why I think if the OP is trying to get to ~1600lbs of payload that the PB is not the way to go. The weight of the battery pack and generator hurt the payload to much IMO.

As I posted earlier in this thread, I have a Lariat PB/7.2KW gen with 1643 lbs payload. If you need and or want those heavy options then PB is out.

So they could shake that wand again and easily make it 7600 and resticker every truck. They know and we know it is derated.
Just give us the standard 95% GCAWR formula. Adds at least 350lbs to the GVWR.

I've got a 23' PB XLT that is lightly equipped. I've got a payload of 1648. My only mods are a spray in bed liner.. not sure how much weight that actually takes up. If you're willing to forego an apparently literal 1/4 ton of creature comforts, you can get a reasonable-ish payload even with a 23' PB. I've got an old 5000 lb 5th wheel that I plan on towing once we finish renovations. At some point, I have to get to a scale to see what my pin weight is. I'm new to all this but I'm also trying to figure out how to tow within the stated weight limits safely. I know it's going to be close to the limit either way.

**EDIT** The 5th wheel kit is also obviously a modification... somehow forgot about that!

I ordered a 2022 PB carefully picking and choosing options. The truck is an XLT, SCREW, 4x4, 6.5' bed. It came in with a cargo capacity of 1645#.

This is the window sticker with the options I got.

if your bumper is not dragging on the road buy a bigger trailer :)

I saw one dumbass in a f150 last summer the spare tire for the trailer was mounted under the a frame of the hitch on the trailer and is was dragging on the ground as he backed into the site ( i dont think it would do him any good if got a flat) and the jacks on the trailer were so bent and damaged they did not work any more from hitting the ground... now he had a payload problem!!!
