Engines shed heat through the radiator. Also, often the covers provide some noise attenuation.

Yes, it sheds INTERNAL heat through the radiator. Heat rises, a cover helps to hold heat to cook wiring and small components.

I doubt that The cover affects heat on engine. Every manufacturers out there uses it, from Lexus to Ford for many decades! It serves two function. Aesthetics. And noise attenuation. This is why luxury vehicles more often than not have it and cheap ones do not.

Not all engine covers are the same.

No doubt they range from being well designed, from an engineering point, to being nothing more than a cover to cover a mess.

The 2.7/3.5 Ecoboost engine cover has never struck me as an impressive piece either way, and I've had several Ecoboosts. They've not all been made of the same materials either.

I can take it or leave it and not be too concerned. I took it off this KingRanch Powerboost shortly after acquiring the truck. Doubt I will ever put it back on. The Powerboost already runs hotter IAT2 temps than I like. The intake manifold doesn't need a blanky, in my opinion. :)

Ok, I had to see a what the big deal was. I guess maybe if I was an EcoBooster I’d want the engine cover…I see what you guys mean. That is a pretty unsightly engine bay compared to my V8.

Tons of plumbing on a dual fueled twin turbo variable valve timing V6.

I'm surprised with all the modifications that get done to cars and trucks that someone hasn't created some type of replacement cover.

I just bought a 24 Powerboost and was really surprised to see no engine cover. It's not the greatest looking engine in the world, lol, so it's crazy to me Ford would ship trucks off without them.

Only ones I've seen so far for sale (all over the place) is the Ford Performance Raptor ones. I'm not sure I want to sport a Raptor logo on a Lariat. lol Seems cheesy to me. I don't HAVE to have one, but I do think it looks better when you pop the hood.

Engine covers are redundant IMO. You already have a large metal cover over the engine to begin with, the hood.

Then again, I'm a logical and pragmatic person so a lot of the stuff consumers want boggles my mind. Don't get me started on crossovers, lol.

I am with you and can not help but laugh at these type threads everytime they come up. They even complain about the same thing on the Jeep forum. I am like, what the heck do you need an engine cover for, your Saturday morning cars and coffee with the hood open? LOL
