Well, I settled on the tire for the 2024 KR Powerboost build. I have always done E load KO2s, but after reading a lot on this forum, I feared that electric mode would be a thing of the past and the PB would effectively be a cool in truck generator. So, I looked at tires that would reduce weight and still get me not only an aggressive look, but actually perform somewhat off road as I do own some property than requires some mild off roading (nothing too serious, but I wouldn't trust those worthless Pirellis to be capable.)

I settled on the Ridge Grappler. For years, Nitto offered the Ridge in SL on a 305/55/20 size. I am hesistant on that because, I would prefer at least a 34" diameter corner after leveling the truck. Also, at 305mm wide, I think the tire could likely use aftermarket wheels with a less positive offset than OEM. Since my KR has branded OEM wheels, I was wanting to stick with it. Thus, I was looking the Recon Grappler in a 275/65/20 SL. This has been reviewed a lot on this site, quite favorably. I was thinking these would likely be what I was going to get. Then I saw that Nitto had introduced the Ridge also in a 275/65/20 SL. I just had to try them out.

The tire itself is 51 lbs, which is on the heavy side for an SL, but the reason why is unlike most manufacturers of SL versions of AT tires, like Falken or Toyo, Nitto leaves the extreme sidebiters on the Ridges.

I will update this thread with discussion of performance, handling and ongoing fuel economy. They went on today, and I am quite pleased with the look:

Surprisingly flush fit. Not tucked in like the Pirellis even though the section width was the same:

As for the trip back home fuel economy:

I'll take it.

I'm jealous of your wheels and those tires look awesome! Do you have an idea as to what your MPG's were before the swap? Looking forward to further updates

For a trip like the one I took, I would have expected about 22-23 mpg. The impact seems pretty minimal and certainly worth it.

Wouldn't expect a mileage hit unless it's aero. I went to LT 275-65-20 slightly heavier than your SLs and mileage was unphased. Did you reprogram your BCM for the size difference?

No. I am not proficient with Forscan.

Do you have forscan? Change isn't difficult. Your speed / mileage / fuel guess-o-meter is currently incorrect.

Nope. I have never gotten Forscan. I am always fascinated by you guys and your wizardry of that program, but it just seems kinda overwhelming to me. I've always just assumed that my speedo is about 3% off, which would make the mpg estimator likely underscore efficiency about the same.

I have the same "flush fit" w/ the 275/60R20 Nitto Nomads I settled on. - Less aggressive tread and lower load rating (H vs your SL). Thus far, the Nittos have ridden well once I put about 100mi on them.

Looks good and should serve you well.

I felt so. My neighbor had the Recons in the same size and load and they look less aggressive. He opted for the less aggressive sidewall. The scalloped sidewall on those is still pretty aggressive. To me, the big difference is in the tread block. For an SL tire, the tread block still looks very imposing and I preferred it to the pattern of the Recons.

The recon are an AT tire and the ridge grappler is a hybrid AT/mud tire, so the ridge grappler is a more aggressive tire.

I run the Toyo open country AT3's and at stock 275/60/20 they have a full inch more contact patch than the stock Hankook dynapro at2's that came on the truck.

Forscan is free and the USB to OBDII is around 30 bucks and i could walk you through the changes in 10 minutes as long as you are slightly computer literate.. i am running 35x12.50 R22 and mine reads acurate.

I have the Recon's in this SL size and your Ridge's look wider and better IMO.

Looking good! I can tell you those will be much better on the gas mileage than anything even slightly heavier…

Did you level your truck at all? Thinking about getting a set of these for my 23 PB as well. Been looking for a more aggressive tire, but don't want a LT due to the weight and killing my MPG's. Curious to see what your MPG's end up being.
