They use Motorcraft semi synthetic. The same as someone paying $69 would get.

It’s a loss leader to get you in. They routinely try to upsell air filters, cabin filters etc. I just say no.

The synthetic blend is a good, basic oil…..nothing wrong with it at all

Any SAE approved oil is as good as any other of the same weight. The marketing people increase profits by adding some gimmick phrasing that implies their motor oil is magically better than another that meets the SAE specs. With diesel engines the additive mix is very important but that does not apply to motor oil used in a gas engine.

People have such short memories as there were thousands of articles about the new specs starting in 2017 with lighter weight motor oil and the millions of hours spent on development and testing, including extensive engine testing.

Each and ever Wal-Mart costs the local community more than $500,000 as the local governments need to provide the housing and rent and food and medical assistance for the Wal-Mart workers not provided by the company. It is even worse if one considers that a Wal-Mart store will put out of business small owner operated businesses that paid their workers a living wage and provided medical coverage. Money spent at one of these owner operated businesses stayed in the community. Any profits at a Wal-Mart store leave the community and the local economy immediately.

This is false. DI motors need oils that meet their proper specifications, not a base SAE cert. Failing to use an oil with the proper specifications could result in LSPI resulting in an engine rebuild. Just saw a case of an audi with a rather special motor blow off the top of their piston due to LSPI right after going to some random oil change place before a road trip. The owner learned an $18k lesson.

You should definitely do a little more research before making this claim. I'm not a mechanic nor an automotive expert, but I am an engineer at heart so I over analyze everything. Just watch any video from "The Motor Oil Guy" and the oil videos from "Project Farm" and you'll quickly realize they're not all the same.

With that said, there is lots of marketing nonsense out there to get you to buy the "best" but just a little research will protect your engine and your wallet.

My local dealer has a $29 works package happy hour special. I can't buy the oil and filter at Walmart or anywhere else for that price, let alone have to then dispose of the used oil. I'll let them do it.
My dealer has a deal where if I have a sticker on my truck to advertise their dealership, oil changes are $25. You can't beat that with a stick.

And as far as the oil quality, it's the same oil O'Reilly wants to charge me $10/quart for.

So do you remove the sticker between oil changes? ;) J/K

I wish. It's pretty big and annoying, but what they did for me as far as the paint problem and the cheapness of the oil change, it's going to stay at least for a while.

I actually hate the sticker, but I figure people put all sort of stupid stickers on their back windows, I should at least get something out of it.

I mean you're getting one of the base blend oils for what amounts to retail price so it's not exactly surprising.

What isn't surprising?
Cheap products for a cheap price while advertising for the dealer. The scheme is a bit more psychological than anything, they've conditioned you to bring your vehicle to them and you may have already paid them inflated pricing for other services or parts, though with a 24 your mileage may not yet be high enough, though I'm guessing you're close to paying them for a tire rotation.

My biggest annoyance with changing the oil is with the mess associated with removing the oil filter. Ford does have a tray that diverts the oil down two chutes, so you don't have oil making a mess below the filter. However, you then need to wipe out the chutes and tray or the oil will continue to drip. It is a pain to clean the rear chute due to my skid plate. I've tried a number of ways to catch the oil from the filter, so it doesn't get to the tray and chute, but everything that I have tried makes a bigger mess.

The Fumoto valve makes oil changes very easy.

Um, no. I've had a dealer change my oil once in my entire life. That was the first time on this new truck. I can't change it at home for what they'll do at the dealership.

And with 1300 miles on it, it's a long way away from worrying about tire rotations. But, those are included in the oil change if I want.
