2021 F-150 xl 5.0 bought new from an out of town dealership, I'm experiencing whining pretty much at all speeds but loudest at 68-70mph when trying to keep steady speed. The whine does disappear when I took my foot off the throttle which would indicate a pinion bearing on its way out. I'm also getting shuttering/ vibration which feels like driving over rumble strips at certain times. Had to make an appointment that was a month out and then only to be told, they cant hear anything or replicate the issue...Really?!?!? You'd have to be deaf not to hear this whining! Also the very first question they asked when I brought it in was have you bought the truck here and or shopped with us before...WTF does that have to do with getting my Ford serviced? I guess the only way for me to get my truck fixed is taking it to the dealership I bought it from which is a few hour drive.

Sorry to hear you were treated that way. I hope I don't find the same treatment in N TX after I get back from picking up my 24 F150.

How many miles does your truck have?

Post a negative review on their google or similar page with your experience. I did that once after giving up on a dealer and the service manager called me back skipped me to the front of the line and bent over backwards to address my concerns.

Two thoughts:

1) The straight cut pump gear in the transmission does make a bit of a whine, but I only hear mine when windows are down at slower speeds. This is very common, but I guess some are worse than others. I’m not sure what would be considered a problem.

2) I’m assuming the rumble strip feeling isn’t the steering wheel vibrating when changing lanes without signaling? This is a feature.

Welcome to automotive customer service in the 21st century! Where even Toyota is in on the race to the bottom.

Try taking a new truck for a test ride and record the results if they’re loud enough.

Last resort is taking it to a driveline shop and paying them to diagnose the problem. Sadly, it’s something that people are being forced to do more and more these days. The dealers are deaf, dumb and blind up to when the warranty expires; then suddenly they notice everything!

I had those very same issues with an Explorer, turned out to be a rear wheel bearing.

Sometimes they ask you those questions in order to look you up in their database if you had changed your contact information and or vehicle since your last visit.

I highly recommend the transmission fluid level being confirmed. It requires a proper procedure to check the level properly and it's well documented that these trucks are often shipped with insufficient fluid level. The 10r80 is extremely sensitive to low OR high fluid level.

I’m sure you must have saved some money by driving a few hours away to get your truck so why not take it back to the selling dealer? That is one of the perks of buying at a local dealer is for service.

Mine has had the whine since new
Anytime coasting from 30-80 mph
Hit gas and leaves
Putting in 4H it leaves
Service Manager said it’s a normal sound and is a transmission brake ??
Sounds like rear axle bearing or something
Put the noise sensors underneath and nothing heard

It's amazing how dealerships treat customer after the deal is signed. They all seem to be under the rigid control of an all-powerful singular entity called "FORD".

Ford the manufacturer?
Lord of the dealership network?

Not even close. In fact, I'd declare it an adversarial arrangement. Just my opinion.

And it forms a triangle. Manufacturer, Owner/customer, Dealership/middle man.
Anyone with 3 kids can tell you that the dynamics change dramatically when you go from 2 kids to 3. ?
The quickly formed alliances of 2 against 1 is in play at a moments notice. And can be bought/sold at a whim too.

Triangles are fingerpointing gardens.

I hear the 10r80 whine too but there is also a whine coming from the rear too. The rumble strip feeling is definitely not the lane change feature unless they installed it in the seat and gas pedal as well.

It stemmed from a 2019 rcsb purchase because they were the only dealership in the area with the reg cabs. I'm kicking myself for not ordering this one locally.

Personally I would take it back where you did, and ask to see the Service Manager. Tell him what the story is and take him for a test drive for him to hear it. Don't accept a service writer, etc, you want to talk to the King Kahuna.
