Got a 2022 Lariat 3 months ago with about 28,000 miles. I notice it skips 2nd gear when I casually accelerate, like in neighborhoods. When I accelerate more aggressively it will include 2ng gear. This happens in eco, sport, and normal driving modes. It goes thru 2nd when downshifting. Just wondering if this is typical or is it something that needs to be looked into?

Perfectly normal. The 10 speed will skip gears when able to help with performance/economy.

If you accelerate spiritedly from a stop, it will indeed shift through 2nd gear. Easier to see this happen in tow or sport mode. Gotta use the skinny pedal

The trans performs quite a few gear skips. Just have to watch it close enough. I guess this is probably why the did away with the gear indicator in 24s.

That is normal behavior and it has been discussed numerous amount of times on this forum. Even a google search would have lead you here from previous discussions

On my 24 I just tap the down shift button on the shifter when I shift into drive and the gear indicator shows up. So, it may not show up automatically, but you can bring it up.

Totally normal. I also skips in uphill acceleration, from 10 to 8, never saw it hit 9.
And - it has nothing to do with "Lariat", Lariat is just the trim ;)

?
Didn't know that. Another reason to keep my 21 forever. Did Ford actually put anything good, worthy, in late models, or are they just deleting everything?!

I wish it would stay on instead of having to do it every time. I can imagine wearing the +/- buttons out on the shifter after several years, lol.

Retired and not looking. I am driving the wife crazy.
Putting the truck into Sport Mode made a new truck out of it when it comes to tip-in and transmission slide 1-2 and 2-3. I have not followed shift changes in Sport mode so I don't know if if it is still skipping 2 in slow acceleration. I will try to remember to look at that.

The only thing I do not like about Sport mode is the increased power steering effort. It leans toward wanting two hands on the wheel instead of one. So that turns out to be a safety feature. That is pretty clever on Ford's part.

I guess an option is to clamp a suicide knob on my steering wheel to recover one hand function. I just thought of that.
