Hi there. I am in need of some advice. My 2022 F-150 XLT 302A with Copilot assist 2.0 recently started having an issue where lane centering no longer works at speeds of 70mph+. It starts to sway and ping pong back and forth in the lane. I’m curious if anyone else has had this and what they did to get rid of it. It is driving me crazy.

The truck does have a 1.5” leveling kit, and 275/60/20 (stock size) all terrain tires. My rims are +12mm offset so they stick out a little bit more than OE rims too

Here’s a link to a video I took of the truck swaying on the interstate:

Is there a way to calibrate the CoPilot Asisst 2.0 with Forscan? And if so what are the steps?

Or is visiting the dealer my only option?

Thanks!

Have a 21 xlt 302a and after the update about 3 weeks ago I noticed the ping pong. Just received another update this evening but said it was blue cruise related.

Make sure there are no bug splats in front of the camera (near the rear view mirror). The ford lane centering algorithm sucks, but bugs splats certainly make it worse, and it's an easy check.

I've never liked the lane assist feature... It just doesn't keep the lanes very well zig-zagging back & forth in straight sections and it doesn't negotiate curves at all well.

When I had my 22' lifted 2 inches in the front and back (to keep the rake) the dealership said they had to calibrate it. I kept stock wheels and tires. No issues at all, but will say it definitely isn't perfect. I now have a 23' (haven't lifted it yet) and there is a reason they want your hands on the wheel.

Forscan or FDRS can recalibrate IPMA camera.

I've got 2" lift (actual) and another 1/2" on taller tires, nothing out of the ordinary. I did recal the IPMA post lift, and had to realign 360 cams, didn't touch it going with the larger tires.

there is a procedure to make sure the radar is leveled when you do a lift.
i know the camera is "SEEING" but i would also check the radar in the front bumper for level ..actually here is the procedure, in the pdf for the ford leveling kit
its pretty easy starts on page 28

plus i have found if you turn on lane centering and hold wheel with slight pressure, but let truck do its wiggle it will sometimes stop/slow down the ping pong in about 1/2 mile

I'm confused. What is the issue? Forgive my ignorance if I am wrong, but Copilot assist / lane-keeping assist is NOT meant to be hands-free driving. Right? It's not the same thing as self-driving/bluecruise. It is there to prevent crossing over into oncoming traffic or running off the side of the road if you let the truck drift too far one way or another. Your video just shows lane-keep assist doing its job: get too close to the center line and it steers to the right, you go to the right too far and it steers to the left. Lane keep isn't going to steer you away from the line and then auto-correct to the original driving direction.

This gets debated forever online with trucks running same software as Bluecruise. It isn't supposed to be hands free, but the software runs the same so it is 90% hands free. Just don't have the eye camera watching you and it expects a little resistance in the constant wheel wiggle instead.

Bottom line is that IPMA camera can get out of calibration and needs to be corrected, doesn't matter if it is a fully hands free truck or not because it's the same software. You wouldn't want hands free to be driving like you're drunk on a Bluecruise road.

The problem I have is that it's too good and I don't need to give any steering input. It constantly nags me to put my hands on the wheel even though they already are! I either have to turn it off, or artificially wiggle the wheel every 20-30 seconds when the warning pops up - pretty annoying.

I have same issue. It's very annoying to have to move wheel for no reason. I still think sensitivity was cranked up in one of this year updates because it was not so naggy when I first bought it. Straight road it tells me to put hand on wheel that already are. ?‍♂
