My Comma is now doing this super cool thing where is doesn’t boot for 20 to 30 mins after the truck starts. Anyone experience this?

I’ve tried unplugging and waiting , no change.

Total black screen for 20 to 30 mins. Then it boots and works fine.

Have you plugged it in inside the house to see if it has the same problem?

Still nothing, has the slow blinking blue light on the back. But that happens in the truck too.

When it boots up you'll need to use the menu --> software to uninstall, then reinstall stock OpenPilot (you'll be stuck in dashcam mode). If you still have the problem on stock OP you can open a warranty ticket with Comma.

I was responding to that discussion about possible new hardware.
I don't think they will invest any more into ford especially when 2024 model is the cut off. I haven't followed any other models that will be affected by future encryption.

Ford is rolling out TRON (encryption) as they refresh vehicles. 2023 was superduty, 2024 was ICE F150 and ICE mustang. We don't know when Mach E, Lightning, Escape, etc will get TRON.

This implies that 2021 and 2022 f250s/350s etc didn't have TRON. I was under the impression that open pilot would not work on those either, due to encryption. If I'm wrong that would be a nice tow vehicle...

2021 / 2022 Superduty's don't have a PSCM that is compatible with OpenPilot (won't accept lane centering commands). In 2023 it got a PSCM that would accept the commands, but it uses the encrypted communications. There is no Superduty that is compatible.

Hey @Ajzride I see on the discord they just mentioned an update coming for more steering torque with Ford using OpenPilot. Mentioning more control at lower speeds. Will this work on BluePilot as well?

We already allow more torque in staging than they are planning on.

Actually, we allow a lot more at low speed and a lot less at high speed. We tested max OP torque at 70mph and it was terrifying.

We’ve gotten some pretty conclusive evidence that updating the PSCM and IPMA with FDRS improves the performance of lane centering, including when Comma is in control. I’ll recommend everyone who can get on the list to get a loaner mongoose and update their trucks.

I am going to do that soon, thank you. I wasn’t aware of the program to borrow the cable, that’s a big help

that said, are you guys sure you cant use the way that blue diamond v2 seems to keep the truck and incorporate that into the newer profiles or make a new one?

here’s a picture, you can see how in lanefull setting, it recognizes the yellow line and pulls me towards it as opposed to defining the edge of the road on the right. Or that’s how it seems at least with my limited understanding of this
