I seem to have lost my original AsBuilt file backup from when I bought the truck used (assuming the 1st owner hadn’t made any Forscan mods).

I know these trucks periodically backup the AsBuilt to whatever the latest configuration is during OTA processes to Ford servers.

Does anyone know how to get a completely original AsBuilt file for a specific VIN?

I should also add that the reason I’m asking is I’m not sure if downloading the AsBuilt from Motorcraft is downloading the ORIGINAL AsBuilt or whatever the latest AsBuilt that was backed up during OTA updates.

@Jesse-Infotainment ?

You should NOT ever go back to your as built original file. As many changes have been made through OTA and possibly FDRS. Doing anything with an old as built could absolutely turn your truck into a big mess that would be un recoverable.

The download will be your latest version, there is no way to differentiate changes that were made by a previous owner in forscan verus changes that were made by ota and fdrs. The motorcraft site contains the last known functional version. And can't look back.

I personally will never go back to the As Built data. Heck I stopped making any Forscan changes after something got corrupted and killed my steering wheel controls. It took engineers at Ford to get that resolved. NOPE.

I'd be curious what the engineers at Ford did. :)

There's so many things that the collective of this forum have solved that those "engineers" seemed to have been stumped by.

They had to rewrite the software for my truck.

Is that the way they described performing an FDRS (Ford Diagnostic Repair Service) PMI (Programmable Module Installation) procedure on the affected module(s)?

Because I guess they could describe that as "writing software" to the truck, rather than installing software to a module.

I'm not messing with you, but admittedly poking the service department for the way they communicate with the customer. I should ignore the temptation, but they make it so irresistible sometimes.

I personally don't think that anything you might have done with Forscan should have required Ford engineers. I mean literal engineers that work for the manufacturer. Sometimes that language is used by a tech or service writer who simply called the Ford technical support department. And then they walk the technician through how to do a procedure that was already available to them, but they aren't....... Let's say proficient with the tools?

I don't have a way to get your original data back, but in case it helps in the future I commit all of my changes to github. I downloaded all of my as-builts using FORScan and saved them to a folder that I commited to github. Every time I change something it gets a new commit so I can easily go back and see all of the changes. Since I haven't done all of my changes at once if it has been a day since the last change I will re-download the current as-built data and overwrite the previous file on my computer just in case there were any changes due to OTAs, but so far I haven't seen any changes.

Early last summer I did the Lincoln mirrors and glare free headlights which was well before the last three OTAs. I added OEM bed lights last week so I also decided to do a few other changes while I was in there. I reversed the Lincoln mirrors since I don't use them and miss the puddle lights. I also did the gauge mod and enabled the unreal theme while I enabled the bed lights. I downloaded all of those modules as-built files and there were 0 changes from from the previous version before I did the mods. It is possible some of the other modules had changes since I only downloaded the ones I would be updating.

I might be wrong but if you were to make a forscan changes would the changes eventually migrate to your asbuilt data on ford's servers?
I wish I had known to make a full backup when I first got the truck.

Yes, the Ford servers are regularly updated to reflect changes made by anyone / whatever means.

It'd be of little or no real value other than vicarious interest.
