Thanks all, Gen 14 forum does not disappoint!

Follow up question: Considering the downsides, why is leveling so popular on this forum? Is it really mostly for looks?
For looks and to fit bigger tires.

this...and because a bunch of us don't tow big campers. The rake is far more prevalent on a Ford, versus other brands.

Recapping what I've learned so far. Front rake is like cheeseburgers. I like the factory rake, I think it makes the truck look like a truck. Conversely , I like my cheeseburgers with lettuce and tomato, big kosher pickle and a cold draft beer. Good God Almighty which way do I steer......

I'm new to trucks, my 2023 Lariat FX4 supercrew with short bed is my first truck. I've noticed the rake of my truck and would prefer the truck look level, which is why I've read through this thread. Now I have some questions...
- what is RCSB?
- what are the blocks in the rear that people remove?

I'm partial to a strong cheddar cheese, maybe some grilled onions and Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce on my burger and some lemonade.

Eating a lot of a cheeseburgers will lower your ride height.

RCSB = Regular Cab Short Bed.

The blocks that some remove are between the axle and the leaf spring. Removing them will drop the rear about an inch or so, change pinion angle and alignment, limit suspension travel, and allow the driveshaft spline to possibly bottom out in the trans tail shaft on full crush if the bumpers are modded to allow more travel.

-Regular Cab Short Bed
-There are metal blocks between the rear axle and leaf springs. When you remove them, the rear lowers equal to the thickness of those blocks.

It is for me. I like it better. I don't expect Ford to do it, but I do question the near 4" rake on an FX4. That is just nonsense. My adding a 2" level only brings the rake down to around 2" (hardly level). I just don't want my ass end in the sky.

There is really no benefit or major downfall to leveling. I did mine because i like the look better. I tow both a 21 foot walleye boat and a 29 foot travel trailer and I have no problem with the truck. The WDH takes care of everything with the travel trailer.

I am personally not a fan of "leveling" these trucks. When they are level the front end appears as if it's higher and it's not a good look... Just my $.02. With that said I do like the the look of these truck with a 2 inch front lift, gives the truck an aggressive look and still gives you about 1.5 inches of rake.

The main reason people lift the front is for aesthetics, people love the look. I partially fall into this category but I also feel the stock suspension is pure garbage. These trucks ride like an 80s Cadillac in stock form. They are way to soft and bounce over bumps, nose dive under braking, and lean in turns. I recently installed a set of eibach coilovers and it transformed the ride of my truck, for the better. My truck does have 18s vs 20s so maybe thats part of the reason my stock suspension felt like a slush box.

2021 XLT Screw 5.0,4x4,302Asport,
Ford Performance offers new rear shackles that reduces the rake. They also have another kit that drops the front end as well. Perhaps that's part of the upcoming LOBO package.

I have a 21 XLT SuperCab 4x4 with 8’ bed
1-1/2 drop shackles and block removal brought the rear down quite nicely.
(also changed bump stops)
tailgate now at a comfortable height for working on or loading.
truck sits almost level. Console lid stays open. No longer feel like I am going downhill all the time and I am much more comfortable sitting in it.
Most all the pickups I’ve had sit pretty level from the factory.
From my first C10 all the way thru to my K1500.

for what it worth, shackles and block removal required no shims in my instance, and the truck ‘felt’ a bit heavier in the rear. The rear end does not shake nearly as much on a washboard surface.
