We’d be traveling in the View 24R which is a Class C and not the Maverick.

2023 PB 501a 4x4 short bed 7.2KW. PL=1658lbs.
My wife is having second thoughts about our trailer towing plans after the Houston trip. We are including the Winnebago View 24R as an alternative to the Intech Aucta Willow. That means I might consider exchanging my beloved PB for a 2025 Maverick hybrid and the Winnie which is a Sprinter 3500 dually. We’d flat tow the Jeep. We are going to travel someday and she is coming and so are the dogs! I don’t care what it takes
We had a Class B and it was a great, weekend fishing van but more than 4 or 5 days, got pretty crowded, with just 2 people.

Your View is bigger. A couple feet longer and the slide will help a lot but I'd still wonder about longer trips.

Using a flat tow, will erase a significant weakness, by allowing "camp" to stay set up, while leaving for a while. Just don't leave the awning out, unattended, ever. Turning the water off, isn't a horrible idea either.

Re the slide. I can't tell for sure if that is a Schwintek or not. That alone, would be a no go for me, as would any cable slide.

Rather than drop a couple hundred K, I'd have to rent something of similar size, for a couple trips first.

I can’t find anything online yet. I’m just beginning to entertain the notion. Here’s a pic of the slide mechanism from a YouTube video.

Good. Not the traditional Schwintek. Newish design but I haven't heard anything bad about them.

I have owned a truck with a slide-in camper and a Class C motorhome. I almost rented a Class B in Canada and was lucky that the outfit double booked it and so I rented a 1-ton 4WD pickup with a large slide in camper. My wife and I put jackets on the rear seat of the crew cab and could sit across from each other at the dinette in the camper. With a Class B (except for the Roadtrek models) the dinette area is small and does double duty a sleeping area.

The slide-outs work only when parked and stabilizing jacks used. At pull-out or stops along the way a Class B is not nearly as comfortable. Stopping to quickly make a meal is less doable even with many Class C motorhomes.

A big advantage of a truck towing a trailer is that the best of the truck is available for camp chairs, firewood, dogs, bicycles, etc. and a rack can be mounted to hold a boat or kayaks.
Trailers also have more square footage available and have larger holding tanks for fresh, gray, and black water.

Thats what ours was. A 190 Versatile (really 21').

And you're right, not having to make and un-make the bed, in order to have a table was a deciding factor.
Roadtrek does (or did) really good engineering and it was obvious.

The View 24r has a permanent bed in the rear and you can access the fridge, bathroom, and bedroom with the slide in. Regardless, I need her to want to go. Whatever that form takes I’ll make it happen lol. She did say we could just stop helping one of the kids and keep the PB ?

Having access with the slide in, was one of the top reasons why we chose the Surveyor 252RBLE vs. any other model of similar size, weight etc.

Full access to the bed, bath and kitchen, without having to have 2 doors.

I wonder how much Powerboost hate would be converted to love if Ford would quit sandbagging us?

So I see the Ford Ranger Hybrid specs are finally being reported and it has 75KW traction motor,...... DOUBLE the power of the Powerboost...... And a ~12 KWH battery..... EIGHT times the size of the battery in the Powerboost

Admittedly there's far more competition in the mid sized truck arena in Australia and other markets, compared to the USA. And I can even see why Ford is Slllloooowwwww to improve the Powerboost, since nobody has yet stepped into THIS market with even a whiff of competition.

Still, there's plenty of precedent for Ford to improve on a new platform after 3 or 4 years from introduction. (See 2025 Maverick)

I'll forgive if the SuperDuty Powerboost is officially revealed soon. Like tomorrow. ?

I rode in a 24 XLT SD snow plow prepped truck the other day.

Anyone who would just chose to drive that without having real need, is nuts, or never leaves smooth pavement.

The slide out is a Lippert Slim Rack. Previously Power Gear before Lippert purchased them. ??‍♂

Combined with the 3.5EB that’s too much power for the 1080 I’m afraid.

Note: Just right for the 7.3L and the 10R140 though ?

Lippert is eating everyone, in the RV space.

They even have former competitors, now in house, but maintaining their old brands.

BTW, I still wouldn't call that the premium slide mechanism. Just a big improvement over Schwintek.
It still requires 2 motors and there is wiring that can get in the way, caught, damaged.

The relevant part starts @18:55.

The side mounted systems, of whatever flavor, are when there isn't space to dedicate below the slide, for the more robust, traditional rack and pinion mechanism.
