Curious why you only like your Limited but don't love it? (Or anyone else with comments about their Limited.)
I think overall it's just overpriced, but that's the beauty of the market I guess. When I was first looking for a new vehicle in '20-21 I think my same truck spec was closer to $70k than the $83-85k or so it was priced at. I decided to be an adult and held off on buying a new vehicle to pay off stuff and build a house. I ended up paying closer to $77k with an X-plan April '22.

The truck is great and does exactly what I need it to do. I don't push it to the limits but I knew that going in. I'd probably be just as happy with a mid to large SUV but it's nice throwing large and dirty items in the bed and not having to worry about it. For some reason members feel the need to brag about all the holes their man cards have punched out for all the manly things they do with their trucks or the options they do or don't have lol. Who cares how your truck is spec'd or how you use it compared to others.

I haven't had any major issues, or really many minor issues that needed corrected by the dealership. Some things that drive me crazy are:

  • Rattles inside the cab. Most of it comes from the door panels or rear sliding window when open and radio is up. I know the doors can be taken care of with after market products, but I feel it shouldn't be needed when the truck cost $85k. Rear window may be fixed with a TSB I believe. I've never had a vehicle this expensive so maybe my expectation is too high lol.
  • Sync 4 is a lot more capabilities than Sync 3 that I came from, but it's also had a lot more issues in 1.5 years than the 8 years I had with Sync 3.
  • My 2012 Ford Focus had touch sensors on the handles of all four doors, auto up and down on all four doors, and what I feels like is a better rain sensing wiper system than my 22 F150. Not sure why this is. Also the Sony sub in the Focus is night and day compared to this paper "unleashed" sub.
  • Rusty rear axle. Again, something that can be fixed by me but it shouldn't be.

I'm sure there's other things good or bad I'm forgetting. I love the interior trim color. I'm not a fan of brown interiors like the KR. I test drove a Platinum with black interior but to be honest I didn't look too hard at the interior because by that time I had a good feeling I was going to look at getting a Limited.

If you're in the market just take a look at the different higher trims if that's what you're aiming for. Overall I just feel the truck is overpriced but you can get a KR or Platinum for close in price as a Limited if you load it up. If all these trucks were ~$10k less MSRP than maybe my thought would be different.

It's hard to argue the capabilities of the truck along with the interior space all while getting 22-23+ mpg on average though. Even if I wanted to replace my truck with another truck or a SUV, I would likely have to make some sacrifices. That why I mentioned I could keep it a while or get rid it. I don't have a reason to bail but perhaps something really awesome comes along and blow me away.

Had my last truck 6 years. Thinking between 6-8 for this one depending on how much driving I do. Keep it to about 160K miles. Last truck was a record for me. Never owned a vehicle that long before. I think the last truck was the 47th or 48th vehicle I've owned? To be fair, when I was young I usually had two cars at a time. DD and a fun car.

Thank you for the very thorough reply!

I intentionally bought a "simple" truck in 2011: XLT 5.0, 2WD in the hopes that it would be problem free and serve its duty well as a farm truck. I haven't been disappointed. Paid $32K. Now has 275,000 miles with what I would only consider maintenance items--including a second set of brakes that was only just installed. Water pump (was probably duped on this), transmission lead frame (ended up being a recall item though I had it changed before recall), infamous coolant leak at y-fitting (O-ring), oil pan gasket (at 245,000), blend door actuator.

Without exaggeration, it runs like the day I drove it off the lot. Zero squeaks. Zero rattles.

Have been eyeing the Limited for a long time, but to be honest, I too feel it's overpriced. Still a ton of cheap plastics. At current price points, I'm cross shopping Range Rovers (I know, I know). And the complexity of Powerboost concerns me, as do the equally complex electronics. (And I'm a Silicon Valley guy who loves tech, but I don't trust automakers--especially the Big Three, to do it right.)

Though my current truck is obviously old, I have a very hard time justifying a new Limited or now, a Platinum Plus. Repeated new car purchases keep so many Americans poor.

Yeah the issues I have aren't unique to the Limited trim, but when you factor in the high price compared to other trims then makes these small issues a little annoying. The truck has a firmer ride with the 22's but I don't mind it. It's a lot better than my Focus with the "sport"' suspension and 18's. I feel it's less "boaty" with the 22's but I never owned a truck before so having 20's or less isn't a ride I'm too familiar with. Exterior looks are subjective but I like it and it's not that big of a difference compared to KR or Platinum. I like the Admiral interior compared the black or brown. Some of the "standard" options of the Limited are probably ones I'd select with a KR or Platinum anyway.

If you're in the market then check out the few trims, you might be able to save some money. Not sure about Powerboost issues. Some people here have had a bunch of issues, while others like me have had none. You could buy a 5.0 or EB and have a bunch of issues.

I've averaged about 2 years of ownership with my dailies. I get bored looking at the same dashboard after a short time.

I’ll keep it until it gets too costly to own or some jackass hits me and totals it like I had happen to my last 2 vehicles. My last truck I kept for 11 years. It was ran into 3 times . Alway by someone fooling with their cell phone.

If you ask the Chief Financial Officer of the household, my wife says this is my "forever" truck.

I've been lucky thus far with my '22 PB Platinum 6.5. We purchased it via X-Plan and it had no deletes (probably one of the last '22s to come off the line "complete".) We recently set up a transfer switch to power most of the house with the 7.2 generator. The memory of going thru Isabel with 2 plus weeks of no power justified that expense.

So, unless something unexpected occurs...this antimatter blue truck will be sitting in my driveway for quite some time.

My first Ford and it has not been the best experience… I don’t like buying vehicles.. so I try to make them last .. but damn .. it’s hard with little support from dealers and the MotorCo.

What is so amazing to me as that 10 trucks equipped exactly as yours can come off the assembly line and some percentage (which I will draw ire if I were to guess optimistically) of them will overall be far less troublesome to the owner over YEARS, and yet others will be a nightmare for their owners.

By far, for me anyways, the experience of a new vehicle being unavailable for use for long periods of time, and in the possession of what comes across as apathetic or incompetent service representative(s), is the worst possible outcome.

You definitely have my

I purchased the extended warranty and got the truck from a dealership that offers unlimited powertrain warranty. I’m running this truck into the ground.
