Mine would start with the Remote App on my phone, never tried the remote on the Key Fob although the Service Manager wanted me to try it if it happened again.

Right now, I am happy to be out of the hybrid!

Can someone restate for me what the two step starting method is?

Also, has anyone experienced SSN after replacing their battery with a new non Ford AGM?.

My 2023 f150 pb lariat. 14000miles, the same thing happened to me twice. As my first ford pickup truck, it makes me so disappointed.

Our 23 PB got that warning a couple times (the powertrain malfunction). It started, though. I put it in gear, twisted the drive mode to a 4wd mode, backed it up, pulled it foward, went back to 2wd mode. Turned it off. Waited a few seconds, restarted it, no warning.
Sometime after the second time we got it, we got an OTA update. Have never seen it since. Have never had it looked at.
Now watch, it'll come back today and strand us somewhere. Lol.

I can not shift it at all. I just send it to the dealer and they told me it will take over 2 weeks to checks and no one knows how long they can fix it.

Step 1: Keep foot of the brake pedal and press start button. Let it settle out (pressing ok to clear normal alerts when it is started up into accessory mode only)
Step 2: press on brake and press start button.

Also anytime you remote start via fob or app, it is two step because the truck goes into an intermediary condition before you depress the brake pedal and press start.

I’ve been doing this for about 7 weeks now no issues. Before changing how I start the truck it happened 3 times.

Oh I see. Take it nice and slow like we do with legacy processors. We still use quite a bit of 90’s era stuff in the landing aircraft safely business ?
Slow but reliable as it turns out.

For the second time in a week I have had my truck not start and give me a "stop safely now". I have had enough. A brand new truck that won't start is not in the cards for me. I am starting the search for a replacement.

Have you tried any of the suggested work arounds? I understand your frustration but we are also trying to solve/prevent this problem. If the suggestions here haven’t worked, please let us know.

Question for all of the knowledgeable folks-
Press ‘Start’ with foot OFF brake
Pause
WITHOUT clearing ’OK’
Press ‘Start’ with foot ON brake
The truck will start, but is clearing ‘OK’ a necessary step to assure a start without freezing in “Full Accessory mode” or “Stop Safely Now”?
If starting with fob or app, there is no clearing step.

Here is my routine for the "Two Step Start". So far it works.

1. Get into truck and shut the door.
2. Lauch OBDLink and observe both SOC levels and 12 volt amp draw. DC/DC converter has not awakened yet.
3. Press start button with foot OFF off the brake.
4. Observe volt/amp changes as the DC/DC converter comes on line.
5. Clear all the "OK" messages.
6. Foot on the brake.
7. Clear the "OK" message.
8. With foot still on the brake, press the "Start" button.
9. "Ready" light appears.
10. Set AC blower to "5" or more.
11. Confirm 12 volt system voltage at 13.8 to 14.2.

You are good to go.

Monitor your SOC's for the last shutdown of the day. No science here. I like to keep my 12 volt system 90% or above and my 280 volt system into the 50's or 60's. You need more than idiot lights to monitor this truck for optimum operation.

im sorry it happens to you. I bought the Powerboost mainly for the pro power onboard and mileage, there is really no alternative. I wish Toyota would have something similar to the Powerboost or better. I’m pretty upset at Ford, and considering this is my first Ford. If there is something closer to the Powerboost, I’d definitely jump ship.
