My wife's phone is a Motorola edge and it makes the same noise if calling hands free in our F150. I just found this thread. I will advise her to try the wifi and Bluetooth reset and see if that works. Her phone used to work fine in our truck and then suddenly one day, it started making the noise if a call is made or received. I think it started around May 2024.

Had same issue with static in a 2022 F150 using a 5 year old Motorola G7. I replaced the phone with a new Motorola G7 and re-paired to the truck...so far working and clear with no static. Will update if this goes south in the future.
I had a Moto G stylus and had same issues, bought new 2024 Motorola G5G, and it worked great for less that a month, now same crap. Hands free calling is not a option in my 2021 XLT PowerBoost, pretty disappointed, especially because it works in every other that I try.

I FINALLY FOUND A FIX:

Went to System settings on my phone and went to 'Reset Options' and then reset the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

This deletes all of your previous Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections, but I think it also changes your Bluetooth address.

I finally had a chance to try resetting my phone network connections today, but it did not resolve my problem.

Right now the only solution still seems to be pressing the icon to send it to my phone and then pressing it again to send it back to hands free.

Yes...mine went south again, back to static.

Update - My wife tried resetting the wi-fi and Bluetooth on her Motorola phone but we did not have any luck while trying to make a hands free call. phone connects, call picks up, and then loud static sound after that while in the call. Very frustrating.

I would like to try the switch back and forth method you have described. Can you please explain which Icon you are toggling? Is it an Icon on the display in the vehicle, or an Icon on the display on your phone?

I know you guys are talking about android. I had this exact same problem with my iPhone when I had my Tacoma. Not sure if the setting exists somewhere on an android but it fixed my phone. I have zero issues with the buzzing or static with my F150.

WHILE ON A CALL, swipe down from the top right corner of your screen, hit the button that says something like mic option: standard mic. (Very top right button), change to isolate voice. This should solve you problem.

Same thing I tried, same results. I am beginning to believe it is a F150 thing, my phone works in all other vehicles. I have connected the same phone in multiple vehicles and no problems,( I deliver and pickup cars for local dealership part time). Been to 2 different Ford dealership, and they have nothing. Very, very frustrating, sure wish someone would come up with a solution

First, I this hasn't worked with Android Auto, so make sure it's off.

The icon will show up on the Sync 4 display screen when you make a call. It looks like a phone. It allows you to toggle between the phone and the truck for your call. Press it once to send the call to your phone, then press it again to send it back to the truck. The color of the icon will change slightly when you switch between modes. When you send the call back to the truck it should sound much better.

I just tried your fix, found icon and it does send call back to my phone, but it will not let me send it back to truck, tried multiple times and no luck, thx for trying, will continue trying to find a fix. Sure wish Ford would chime in, even if the have no fix, just to acknowledge there is a problem would be nice ?

This has happened to me. I've been stuck on updates for about 6 months now though.

Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into things on my end.

I thought I was stuck on updates for a while too. Then I learned about the Battery Management System (BMS) reset. Make sure your battery is fully charged and then perform the BMS reset procedure. Once I did that, updates started coming in.

No updates that have fixed the phone issue yet, though. ?

I wonder if this SSM 52574 [update 4-20-25: see TSB 25-2048 & 25-2105] applies to all these problems with phone connections:

"SSM 52574 Vehicles Equipped with SYNC4 - Intermittent Symptoms After All
Available Software Updates Performed - Awareness of Solutions Being
Developed
Some vehicles equipped with SYNC4 may exhibit one or more of the following symptoms after all currently
available accessory protocol interface module (APIM) software updates have been performed.
- General system performance, stability, and intermittent system reboots.
- Intermittent Wireless CarPlay or Android Auto function.
- Phone related concerns with intermittent No Audio or Static.
- Navigation/global positioning system (GPS) related concerns through CarPlay and Android Auto.

- Alexa function consistency and stability.
These symptoms may be due to the software in the APIM. Replacing the APIM will not resolve these
symptoms for the customer. Before returning the vehicle to the customer, review the procedures within
Workshop Manual, Section 415-00 and ensure the latest APIM software is installed. Refer to General Service
Bulletin (GSB) 23-7146 for help determining the latest available level of software.
IMPORTANT: some module software updates will only display as available on Ford Diagnosis and Repair
System (FDRS) after prerequisite modules areupdated. This may require the technician to update certain
modules multiple times during the service visit, before the latest APIM software is accessible in FDRS.
If symptoms continue after latest APIM software has been installed, inform customers that Ford is working on
additional software enhancements which are expected to be delivered over-the-air (OTA) by Q4 2024 on F-
150, F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E, Mustang, Escape, Corsair, Expedition, Navigator, Bronco, Mustang,
and 2023-2024 F-Super Duty. Software will update automatically if vehicle connectivity is enabled in the
vehicle's settings. For all other vehicles with SYNC4, schedule a service visit for customers in October 2024,
when the updated APIM software is expected to be available to dealers. Monitor OASIS for additional
information."
