Some people just want the sticker. Its their truck, their money as far as I'm concerned. I have max tow, so the only thing I don't have is the front shocks, skid plates I think. I didn't want to sacrifice the ride quality, I have heard the FX4 is a little bit stiffer. My truck will be the 1st non FX4 gen 13 or 14 ill have been in.
Also missing the AT tires, Rock Crawl Mode. Hill Descent Control., and of course..... The STICKER!!

For me personally, I put FX4 on every truck I buy.

First and foremost this is a boost to resale if only marginally. I worked in sales for Ford for years and most people want it!! Trust me!!

I also will never own a truck without a rear locker, which in Canada costs $400 to add as an option.

With the FX4 Package costing $950, after the electronic locking dif, I need to get $550 more value for this to make sense.

Noone has mentioned yet that FX4 also gets you the upgraded AT tires which to me is worth $500 alone.

Add the rock crawl mode, Hill Decent Control, the sticker and the value is there without even factoring in the upgraded shocks, or skid plates.

If you dont want/need a locking dif maybe you can forgo this option, But if youre gonna add the locking dif, FX4 is a NO BRAINER!!!!
Yeah resale value makes sense. I had a '19 F250 Fx4, which obviously didn't have rock crawl mode, so didn't know the f150 had that. And is there really a difference in the shocks??? Bad, and worse? Anyway, good point. I just received my '21 screw lariat 4x4 over the summer and love it. Will be putting foxes on the rear soon at 30,000miles. I will say I now wish i had a skid plate just because the heat shield on the bottom of my truck keeps tearing at the same corner and drooping down. Irritating.

The sticker is a big deal to a lot of people.
I did know about the rock crawl, forgot to mention that. My truck will only see dirt and rocks at campgrounds. Definitely gonna be an asphalt queen.

For what it's worth, I drove a new 4x4 and a new FX4 back to back, both with 20" wheels. Myself and my daughter both agreed that the FX4 was a smoother ride on pavement. My sales rep said it also helps with resale value.

But the sticker looks cool...
Changed the craptacular rear shocks to Bilsteins, peeled the vinyl sticker off the bed and never looked back. FX4 is the Oval version of the Z71 money for nothing useful.

So yoh spent half the cost of the package on just an electric locking rear dif? And lost all the extras for $550??
Doesn’t make much sense

You also get a set of very nice F-150 front and rear all weather floor mats in addition to the ones that come with the truck (at least with a Platinum in the US). Bought mine off the lot and it came with FX4

Hello everyone,
Just wanted to see yalls thoughts on this topic. I am the only one that think the Fx4 upgrade is a waste of money? I would like to see Ford offer bilsteins or foxes, or some other added benefit to this "offroad" package. To me, skid plates aren't really something to write home about. I do a ton of "offroad" drving, all dirt and rock roads around the ranch (not very laboring to a truck), and the skid plates are irrelevant. And the locking diff is an option I just add to my 4x4 builds anyway. I think people who actually need skid plates are usually going to spend money on aftermarket offroad parts anyway? I guess what i'm hoping for is a package that suites a daily driver looking for a better offroad ride, not a bare minimum rock crawler package. Thoughts? Questions? Comments?
If the worst off roading you’re going to be doing is a rough ranch road you might be better off ditching the fx4 and looking at the CCD option. It might make the time spent in the truck a bit nicer, I know I’ve noticed it helps with some rough spots that I know I would have really felt had I not gone with the CCD.

I have had the 20" rims on my last four F150s. My 2018 was a 4X4 with Goodyear A/T tires and my 2021 is an FX4 w/Pirelli tires. I believe the 2021 FX4 does ride better on pavement. As much FORScan I as do I don't want to add all the stuff in the FX4 package, easier to get the package from factory and have better resale value.

That being said, I removed the stickers week one.

You bring up excellent points in a way that I never thought about it before. As I would never buy a pickup without a rear locker the FX4 is only $550 and I feel cofident you will reap this much return when you get ready to sell the vehicle.

Locking rear diff.
Rock crawl
Suspension
Hill decent
LT tires
Skid plates

Not getting the crap Perelli's is worth the $500 and then some.
And I doubt you can get the electric locker installed aftermarket for $500.
The rest is fine. If you plan on upgrading, can do it little at a time.
