Folks - I found the front license plate bracket under the rear seat on my f150 2024 powerboost. I snapped it on but on further research and hearing it blocks the intercooler cooling. So I am trying to pry it off but it's not coming off. Should I leave as is and mount my plate to it or do I take it off and do I use a zip tie to hold it more secure if I leave it on?

Ford has a bracket that is supposedly to come on trucks that require a front plate. If this is a new truck, see the dealer. If new to you, but a used truck, dealer can order you one.

The dealer could have traded for it and the truck came from a state that a front plate is not needed.

You'll need the front license plate bracket that snaps into the lower center grill opening. Do not attempt to mount it by drilling into the black cover on the lower left side of the bumper this will stop the distance sensor for cruise control to error and stop working.

While I'm certain it does impede air flow to the intercooler. I'm not sure how big of a problem this is. If Ford was really concerned about it they would have developed a plate holder for the right side of the bumper as they had done in previous versions of the Ecoboost truck's.

Mine feels like it's going to fall off any way to tighten it up?
I pulled mine off and added leftover weather stripping from my tailgate seal. To the pads on the back off the license plate frame. It's much tighter now.

I have to disagree with this. The simplest way to route airflow in a supercharged system (belt or exhaust turbine driven) is to have a pipe carrying air straight from the compressor to the intake manifold. Ford did not do that: they spent money and complexity to route air through an intake air to air heat exchanger to cool it off. This heat exchanger works on the principle of exposing the hot, high pressure charge air to cool ambient air without allowing them to mix; if the exposure to ambient air is reduced or stopped, then the intercooler is not a heat exchanger at all, but a badly designed charge air pipe. The intercoolers and radiators have slats, but they are movable slats. A permanent airflow obstruction like a license plate holder is a partial intercooler delete. If that were the correct answer, then why not make the intercooler 1/3 the size or just delete it altogether?

I firmly believe that there are parts on the truck, particularly the PB, that have a minimal function and can be safely removed. A longstanding, broad and well documented body of evidence tells us that intercoolers are valuable and that a full or partial delete is harmful to performance.

I installed the license plate holder and added the license plate on that. I also zip tied the license plate holder. The way I figure is if this was an obstruction to intercooler, then Ford would not have put it there.

Ford plastic plate holder on truck when I bought it. Removed it but still have the light paint damage from it being on there. I'd definitely try to put something behind it if possible.

That would be perfect if not for the price and free advertising for Builtright!
That is just a plastic frame. You don't need to have a frame on a plate. I agree price is not great but cheaper than the other two companies making same bracket.

Found it, I see - This is my second 3.5 EB - My 2011 had the plate mounted over to the right side and my 2021 has it in the middle. I never had a problem on either truck with turbo cooling. As @Big Dog Daddy states - Ford would not put it in the middle if it would cause problems. I am not worried about it.
