Not me personally, and I am not sure how much is posted here, but on the f150forum.com site I know there were a few members that jumped from F-150 to the 2019/2020 RAM, and are back in F-150 for 2021. Most are happy to be back, only indicating a few items they missed.has anyone switched from ram to f150 ? your thoughts and why, how do you compare the ride quality fit and finish quietness any rattles you have experience ETC. for every day duties, exclude towing.
I own a 2020 Escape with the turn knob trans selector and thought I wouldn't like it. I was wrong. I got used to it and it doesn't bother me to use it. My 2021 F150 has the console shift and I like that a lot. Personal preferences. I get it.Not from personal experience because I didn't own either (waiting for my first truck every to be built in KC), but I will never buy a vehicle with a turn-knob transmission....
At least as long as it is within my control.
That’s funny. I actually had talked to a Ford Engineer after driving his Mach E and one of my complaints on the F-150 was the giant shifter because it makes the cup holders really far away and also it’s over engineering the mechanical shifter to make it fold down for the workspace. Not from personal experience because I didn't own either (waiting for my first truck every to be built in KC), but I will never buy a vehicle with a turn-knob transmission....

I haven't tried the Mercedes so this is just from vehicles I have tried, but I would love a version of Lincoln's, at least recent ones I have driven like the Natilus. They have just individual buttons in a vertical arrangement to the left of the Sync screen. That was fantastic. It took up zero room from cupholders and all that, and even though we only had it for three days, I could change from park to drive to reverse and all that without looking at the button, which is my biggest complaint with the knob selector. That’s funny. I was basically like “why don’t they just use a shift knob like they do in the Mach E”, and he was like “I agree with you it’s terrible but truck drivers love them and there is enough consumer research out there saying there would be a revolt if we changed them”.
Personally my favorite drive selector is the Mercedes stalk because it’s simple and gets the job done without taking up cabin space, but I am fine with the dial style also. Either way though I do think you need a manual shift option, but I would much rather paddle shifters anyway. I hate the +/- on the shifter. I much prefer paddle shifting generally, though if it’s going to be on the shifter I prefer the style that was on my GTI where you move it to the right to engage manual mode then just push forward or back to shift up and down. The thumb shifter is terrible.
I love console shift, ordered mine with one. Just as knob control, will never buy a vehicle with steering column shifterI own a 2020 Escape with the turn knob trans selector and thought I wouldn't like it. I was wrong. Agree on all fronts.I haven't tried the Mercedes so this is just from vehicles I have tried, but I would love a version of Lincoln's, at least recent ones I have driven like the Natilus. The F-150 interior has more than enough room to just have the drive select buttons. If people need to lock out gears or whatever, give us paddle shifters. Even the knob approach seems like it takes up space pointlessly. A button setup like Lincoln uses space that is empty normally. I have never run into a situation where a physical console or steering stalk mounted shifter improves anything that the button setup wouldn't do just as well.
