Would you buy a Ford Lightning if you had the opportunity to charge at work for free?

if I was still working, that might be a consideration.

The only issue with this is many employers that offer this only have a few charging stations. A friend works for GE aviation, he bought a I don’t know what the heck some kind of Chevy volt, and he ran into issues where more people wanted to charge than they had chargers. He actually had to get to work 45 minutes early so he could put his “golf cart” on a charger.

So that part of it would certainly be a concern for me

No. Too much range anxiety. I also pull a camper quite often, and stopping every 100 miles for an hour to recharge doesn't sound appealing to me.

Since I work from home it wouldn't be free. Well not unless I used my neighbor's Lvl II charger that is. lol.

Now if I didn't and my office provided free charging and was less than 60-70 miles round trip, then I might seriously consider a Lightning.

The main detractor for me though are the power failures that can last 3-4+ days on average from major summer storms that hit several times a year. One of the main reasons I bought the PB was for emergency backup power. I calculated it up and with the average draw on the PB's inverter during an outage, a Lightning even with the larger battery would be out of or very nearly out power in just about 3 days. Maybe 4 if I ran the absolute essentials. The PB by comparison will only use about 8 gallons of gas. I'd almost certainly have to roll out the big generator to start charging the Lightning if power wasn't restored by the 4th day.

My employer also does it and it's been in the back of my mind to switch it up. I feel like 400miles of range is the minimum I'd go for just because I need to drive 2 hours back home and back without charging in middle of winter.

I've been checking Sierra EV prices the past couple weeks. If they released a 400 mile range Vistiq I'd probably have an easier choice.
