Where do you see this upload data? Router or somewhere in the truck?
Router tracks upload and download by MAC address.

You have to have a home / business router that can be setup to track such things. The vehicles don't tell you anything in regards to what / how much data they're passing be it wifi or cellular.

It'd be rather nice if there was a law compelling disclosure down to a T though. No more nonsense policies full of loop holes. Full disclosure of each piece of data a company takes, what it does with it, every time it's acted on / sold / shared /etc..., what precisely was sold and to what company, and of course the ability to opt out to any portion at any time with no penalty to the customer. Just need a govt that actually understands it works for the people.

EU is far ahead on such things with data privacy. California has tried a few things but nationwide laws need to be in place. I think we will get there eventually.

Dang. 2GB is a BUNCH of ones and zeros.

I should check mine. I use Omada gear as well as OPNSense. It wouldn’t be hard to disable uploads be still allow downloads. Hmm.

That is a lot of data…

I wonder if this is the vehicle uploading the Road Experience Management data. Everything I read said it would be very small. I might be grasping at straws here because I'm not 100% but that it it was activated yet.

Mine has only uploaded 66 MB and downloaded ~6 MB in the past month, and most of that was just before I received 6.5.0 on 12/13 (no updates since).

Only upload shown above in graph.

900 MB on 1/3
300 MB on 1/4
100 MB on 1/5
< 1 MB on 1/6 (Truck never left driveway.)
711 MB 1/7

OTA trigger in evening 1/8.

400+ MB 1/11

Another OTA trigger soon? ?

I have never seen truck upload so much over WiFi. Maybe in the past it was just using cellular for whatever it is uploading.

Truck never downloads more than around 100 MB in a day and it does look like maybe it used WiFi for 6.8.0 with around 100 MB download on 1/8.

How are you guys identifying your trucks wifi adapter/mac address? I have quite a few unidentified devices showing on my router...have been slack about properly naming new devices that come into the house of the past 6 months.

Ford advertises WiFi for software updates but all I see is WiFi being used to upload something and never really downloading. The graph I posted is only upload.

I might just turn the WiFi off for good. I don't know what Ford is uploading but they can use their own connectivity for that.

Yeah, I don't have any idea what my truck is uploading since it is hidden behind TLS...
