Hello
My experience with lane centering is not what I expected. BlueCruise works perfectly keeping within the lane and such but lane centering never worked well for me. My wives Genisis works perfectly and I thought it was just that Ford hasn’t perfected it. Now I read from you all that it should work well, huummm. What’s up with mine? It is erratic it will pull me back but way too far that I have to correct or it just lets my truck just drift off the road.

Thank you and I’ll keep following this thread. Possibly I can find out my problem with it. Oh, it’s a 24 KR.

Thank you
Could you be confusing Lane Keeping, with Lane Centering?

On mine, they are separate systems that can be, or not be enabled in the sync.

Lane Keeping is more or less just a warning system. It can do this several ways but is not what could be called self driving.

Lane centering is Blue Cruise lite. It will steer the vehicle. If after a short period, it doesn't recognize feedback from you, it will warn to put your hands on the wheel and eventually, disengage but until then, it will steer the vehicle.

It does need fairly obvious line markers on the road and too much snow or dirt on the truck, can make it less than reliable as well. Twisty back roads, even with good lines can cause it to cancel but it'll pick back up after the turn.

What does Blue Cruise do better than lane centering+ adaptive cruise? Will it overtake or take exits automatically? I kinda prefer the the latter since it doesn't throw a fit if I look at the screen.

Regarding all the comments about it hugging the line, I felt the same but every time I've checked the camera while using lane centering it's smack in the middle of the lane.

I have had a few hiccups here and there, like once every 2 weeks it'll go over the lines a little, and I've had acc try and accelerate from a stop into a car stopped in front of me which is kinda worrying

I've never had lane centering cross a line and as mentioned, probably use it 80% of the time.

On adaptive cruise, I have noticed a couple quirks. When coming to an intersection, with a road of higher mph, it wants to change to that higher setting and you have to be ready for that. It also will try to run away on clover leaf type entrance ramps, where he car ahead, is out of sensor range, because of the curve.

I also believe it must use a combination of signs and old maps. There are a couple of places that had had construction speed limits, that are finished and at normal speed now but it wants to slow down for them.

But I've never had it try to run away from a stop, or worry me about hitting the car in front.

The lane centering in my '21 only works well for standard size lanes. If they are a bit wider than normal, it doesn't like it. Any kind of construction area, the truck doesn't like it either. Sometimes if it's cloudy, even in areas where it's worked fine before, it doesn't like it.

Lighting, weather, and lane width, it's always been finicky for me. I have 93k on my '21 powerboost. Excellent truck from day 1.

Retired and not looking. I am driving the wife crazy.
I have lane centering in my 2021 F1500 Lariat. No Blue Cruise.

I have Super Cruise/lane centering on my 2023 GMC Yukon Denali XL.

Lane centering is an accident waiting to happen regardless of make and model. Lane centering simply cannot react fast enough. It also tends to wander a little getting too close to cars and semis next to me. It is also heavily dependent on clean cameras (duh!).

Gentlemen, this is the technology that will get you killed. Neither are ready for prime time. They may eventually get there, but so far I have seen no improvements.

Bluecruise will move away from a vehicle encroaching on your lane FWIW

Still not worth $500 per year. If was only $200/yr, I'd sub it for our 25 explorer faster than I down the first beer at the camp site.

I was cleaning my windshield and noticed that the area where my camera is has a bunch of haze on the inside where you can't clean it and probably effects the camera.

I have a 23 with 20k miles. I use the heck out of BC and absolutely love it, best option ever. Worth every penny IMHO. I too thought I was going crazy as mine did the same erratic movements as OP mentioned. I'll have to go see if I got an OTA update. Can't wait for lane change etc update. Road in buddy's 24, lane change feature work awesome. Peace

I hope Ford and BlueCruise can make it. Self Centering nearly did me in a few weeks ago. Not that I was not paying attention and not that I did not catch and correct it. But I was gone if I had not.

It's like EV's. They are still trying to learn to build it.

I'm often struck by how different our trucks are from each other and people's preferences.

Maybe its just because I'm more focused on it now but it seems the 14th gen has so many variables. Not just trim levels and options but deletes, whether covid related or not, some having serious problems and others having none, common electrical problems, often fixed easily but sometimes not.
