I have never owned a Ford before. I have always been a Honda customer.
Pretty much the same here, was a serial Honda owner from 1987 on. Put well over 1MM miles on a series of Hondas without incident. Went Ford XLT PowerBoost in 2022 and have not looked back.

As I start looking at pricing and start understanding that dealers in NJ won't budge and therefore looking at either Granger, Ourismann or Chapman I want to get some honest insight on something. I have never owned a Ford before. I have always been a Honda customer. The largest vehicle I have owned is a minivan. So gas mileage was important. So I have narrowed down to f150 3.5l powerboost hybrid XLT supercrew. Would I be making a mistake buying this if the technology is new? How can I protect myself if I buy this and what happens when hybrid battery is exhausted? Do you also know any other dealers near NJ with a fair price? Also I have only test driven the 2.7l ecoboost. I don't have the patience in me to go again to a dealership to test drive a 3.5l. Can I assume the ride quality will be almost same?
I have a 2021 PB, have had no issues, andf i love it!
If you have a camper/trailer and need/want to power it without the use of a noisy generator, or you want a generator for your home, when the power goes out...get the PB.
If you dont need/want the 7.2 Kw generator then just get a 3.5L EB or the 5.0 and they have a 2.0Kw inverter option.

If you live in a city, a PB truck would serve you well. My fuel economy stays constant or goes up.

I got 20k miles on it and won’t tow 99% of the time. The ability for it power my house, emit less pollution, etc are icing on the cake.

I have had three 3.5 Ecoboost F150's and I just bought a new 23 Powerboost XLT a couple weeks ago. I currently have the new 23 Powerboost and my 2019 3.5 Ecoboost F150 with 47k miles that I also bought new. I havent had any problems with any of my Ecoboost trucks. If you are after mpg's, then you'd want to stick with the 2.7 Ecoboost or a Powerboost. I've read that the 2.7 Ecoboost gets good mpg's and will tow when you want it to. If you tow a lot, then I would probably not consider the 2.7. My new truck is a 23 Powerboost, supercrew 4x4 and is getting 23mpg's. I went with the new Powerboost because I got it for $51k out the door plus a lifetime warranty for another $2k.
Where did you get a lifetime warranty for $2k?

There is a very specific driving condition that the Powerboost has the advantage in fuel economy, so in that ideal use case, then it would matter.
That specific case being opening the door and getting in. I was going to say driving anywhere but even idling in your driveway the PB is more efficient ?

The only thing I would suggest is to make sure the dealer you chose to service your truck will do so even though you did not purchase it there. I know some dealers get pissy when you didn't purchase from them.Yes its a Ford and sooner or later the dealer will get around to it, but there is nothing that says how quickly it will happen. I was lucky as my local dealer has an excellent service Dept and I was able to purchase the truck with the A plan, so it didn't matter where I got it.
On the topic at hand, I have a 2021, 3.5 eb, super crew, 157 wb 4x4, 3.31.gears, non powerboost. I average 17-19 rural/city and 21-24 highway. If I were to purchase a new truck, I would defiantly consider the powerboost. To me it's a no-brainer . They have pretty much worked out the bugs that were in the early models. Buy the longest extended warranty plan you can afford as they can be pricy, but they are worth it if you plan on keeping the truck for a long time. Good luck with your decision.

Have a Powerboost and I love it, but if it's just a family vehicle and will never see off road use. If that sounds like you as well and MPGs are the most important, then finding a 2WD w/ 3.31 gearing will get you more MPGs than simply switching engine options.

Even the 4x4 is rated 22/24.

I always wanted a truck and will also use as a second family car...
Haha, that's what we said. But our 21 Lariat Screw is so nice we always drive it.

Whatever you end up choosing do not skip adding the extended warranty. All these trucks are computers on wheels
Buy the Ford ESP, not a 3rd party warranty. I chose the 8-year 100,000 mile option.

Add the coverage for the lights, as most are all-in-one units so you can't replace the bulbs. A new headlight is well over $1000.

At $200ish, the key replacement seemed like a worthwhile option to me as well.

How much is the extended warranty? How much is key replacement and do I buy both from dealer or are there cheaper options?

The cost will vary based on your state, the number of miles and years you choose, and options (like keys, lights, rental car), etc.

I believe the ESP is now called Ford Protect Premium.

Warranties are a high profit item for most dealers. However, a few Ford dealers sell them online at nicely discounted rates via special websites - regardless of where you buy your truck. Compare prices: at:

When closing the deal on our truck, I went in knowing the best online price for the Premium warranty. The dealer skwaked and complained for a bit, then agreed to sell it to me for $50 more than the online price.

Here is an older, but informative thread on the topic:

Concur WRT the keys. Knowing how much they are to replace, I added the key replacement. And I've already had to use it.

Am I reading correctly? It says $6k+ for a 80000 mile 10 year premium care. Isn't that way too high?

Are you sure you used one of the links provided?
8 years/100,000 with lights and keys was around $2k+- from Granger when I purchased

65k miles on a '21 PB. Zero issues, love having the generator in the bed, and I average 24-26mpg (depending on how many full throttle runs ?) Also tows a 32' camper with ease.
