leave it off all it does is hold heat and wears out your coils faster.
Shhh keep the secrets to yourself, ? Ford designed a perfect truck. Any and all modifications are only hurting the perfection that is the 2021 F150

+1 for the critter damage. Holy cow, that would have been a shock to me too!!

I did notice the engine cover for the 3.5L EcoBoost is soft foam rather than plastic. I also agree from experience that older or less taken care of foams tend to disintegrate when you try to touch it.

Hopefully nothing else is too messed with in the engine bay!

Same exact thing discovered on my 21 today. Any follow up or more repellent ideas?

2021 F150 3.5L Ecoboost. I opened the hood today before I was going to start washing my truck and the engine cover is literally falling apart. There are pieces of foam everywhere in the engine. I have never seen anything like this.

I think that alot of trim pieces and some wiring insulation are made with a SOY based oil to cut cost,BUT it does attract rodents in masses

Living in Florida, could it have been an iguana? Rub a small amount of Carolina Reaper peppers on that cover, the next time it comes around, you'll hear it yodel and tap dance all night long............???

That is not disinigrating. That is a mouse or chipmunk chewing on it.

Get some mouse traps. I would put a sticky trap paper thngy on top to nab the perp.

Probably no comfort to you, but a friend just had a rodent chew up his 2020 Toyota wiring. Dealership charged him $1700 to replace a bunch of wires. A critter is not a manufacturers fault; however, a GOOD dealership will generally work with you.
Why would a dealer "work with you" for rodent damage?

Do you expect the same if you hit a deer?

I know this is an old thread but I m just discovered the front edge of my cover chewed off. Definitely a red squirrel. I had this happen to a tundra fuel rail 5 or 6 years ago. They are made with some soybean in them! Sprayed with the product to use for rabbits and deer. Off to Low3s to get more. Hopefully it will soak into the foam. Does anyone know of an aftermarket cover?

They make rodent repellants. Tried it and they seem to work on my truck.

More importantly, why is it foam? Why not a plastic cover, like on our Grand Cherokee, and even my Tacoma? Is the foam really that much lighter than a plastic shell?
