Does anyone with a gen 14 3.5l have a issue with the engine cover filling with water when it rains? Mine is always full when raining out and was wondering if it's normal. The cowl seam let's water drain onto the cover.

I haven't noticed this during rain but I do get this happening after washing the truck. I don't have a vanity cover on mine so it seems to collect in the indents on the top of the intake. Nothing else seems wet and I just soak it up with a towel. I usually pop the hood to check things over after washing so it doesn't ever stay there long. It is mildly annoying though.

Not sure it harms anything, but I've never had a vehicle that leaks water over the engine like this one does.

The seal in the middle of the firewall/hood has a split - two pieces that slide together. Seems to leak from there, what I have found looking behind the plastic is the metal of the firewall - so my assumption is it only leaks down. Ford is not that great with how wires and the underhood looks vs GM and maybe Ram too. Sometimes I wonder how much longer these trucks would last if everything was fully covered up and more professional looking.

I took to the dealer for maybe getting warranty and they denied it. I posted pictures how I fixed it last year. Try searching for another thread concerning this issue.

While the water probably won't cause a issue, it is a poor design. Never owned a vehicle before that leaks water on the engine or fusebox for that matter... my 2020 F350 leaked water over the fusebox.. guess I'll seal up the seam myself and be happy.

Water gets on the engine when you drive in a rain storm. I don’t get the worry over water on the cover.

It's irratating because I live on dirt roads and the water collects dust/dirt on dry days, because of the water pooled on top of the cover.

Mine does that too after I wash it. Did some digging. Sounds pretty common. I don't bother doing anything about it.

You could make sure your cowl is installed correctly, fully clipped and all that. I'm not sure it makes a difference though. If I remember when I analyzed it it sure looked to me like the water was going to go down that seam in the middle of the cowl and into the engine. Unless it SHOULD be draining backwards towards the windshield...
