Lol, I know that I tried all of that back in 2022 it was hopeless. The only way was just leaving the USB stick in the truck with fingers crossed and waiting.
Right, and this guy made it past that and normally it's smooth sailing from there. However, in his case, something happened and his APIM is now corrupted. FDRS won't help. This needs to be handled by Ford engineers or Jesse and without warranty or Jesse, swapping the APIM is the only solution I can think of.

Is Jesse not here to help people anymore?

Agreed, In the day Jesse could have taken that on and reloaded the software, sadly that's nolonger a viable option. Swapping in a new one wouldn't be a problem but very costly. Buying a used one is also a problem unless it's the exact part number FDRS doesn't recognize it as correct for the truck leaving no path forward for future updates.

No, for various reasons. Ford making things increasingly difficult for people like him to help being one of them. So now we gotta take what we've learned and do what we can.

rugedraw, you are thus hereby prohibited from ever getting rid of your Fords or leaving this site. I’m sure all others here will agree with that decree (request? Plea?). :ROFLMAO:

On a serious note, can’t thank you enough for helping so many and sharing your vast knowledge of this stuff. You, Jesse and several others here have helped me learn so much. 👍👍👍

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I heard back from my contact within Ford and there is a corrupted partition in your APIM which is what is causing the USB update to fail. Unfortunately, the resource we had here to help us fix these more complicated issues is no longer available to us, so we are on our own. The only way to fix it is to replace the APIM and PMI the new APIM with FDRS.

PU5T-14G670-LJZ

This is the p/n for the APIM in your truck. It is imperative that you find one that matches this part number EXACTLY. I looked through ebay now and didn't find one, so it may take a while for one to pop up. There may be other part numbers that are compatible with your truck, but I don't know which ones they are. So you will need to find one that matches this p/n exactly.

Once you install the new APIM (easy to do, imo......it's right behind the touchscreen), you will need to fire up FDRS, click the APIM and run the PMI on it and when FDRS asks if it is the original module, you select no so it programs it with the software needed based on the current state of your truck.

Sorry brother. Some cases are more complicated than others. There is still hope to get it right and I wish I knew how to fix the one in your truck because I am sure there is a way to do it, but it is what it is.

Edit: My contact pointed out that buying a used APIM can be buying someone else's problem. No way of knowing if it is also messed up. A new APIM I am sure is pricey, though. If you do find one used, ask questions about why it is for sale. If it was pulled out of a wrecked truck that was totaled, then it should be safe.
Thank you for finding an answer for me man. The thing is is that FORD CORPORATE is the one that paid to have THIS apim put in. A dealership here bricked my original apim. Then I went to another dealership and had this one put in. This shit is one thing after another and honestly not worth my time. Wish I never would have bought this piece of shit.

Got your message with the case number. Plan A is to see if you will be able to piggy-back off of that case number to get the dealer to address this. I will see what I can find out. Chances that Ford will approve a second APIM are slim to none, but worth a try. Plan B and the only other alternative is you gotta get another APIM.

I tried starting my truck this morning and it didn’t crank and started flashing every warning and light it had on the dash before saying something about updating software on the IPC screen and then everything went black except the sync display. I let it sit assuming it was possible updating something but it never came back online after 10 minutes so I pushed the start button again and it fired up. Really strange and the update screen doesn’t say anything about a new update happening.

Did FDRS give you an option to remove voice files before doing that update?

Yes it did, I chose no.
Try it again and remove the files. Maybe try a full master reset, too. It could be there's not enough space in the partition it uses for updates.

I hope I didn’t screw it up, I just did a PMI and chose NO when it asked if it was the original device. Can I still do that now?

PMI is fine. You can try that first.
