Got a boat load of updates done on my truck last night. (24 lightning, I know wrong forum).

After doing the power steering module (Which also did IPMA) the truck was throwing high voltage battery malfunction alerts and "Stop immediately" warnings. No DTCs set and it wouldn't clear anything. Eventually I just pushed through and did my last update, APIM. And after that was done all errors went away and the truck is perfectly happy now.

I also had the "USB Charge Only" error with the first USB drive I tried (Microcenter 32GB, exFAT, no name). Tried another (Sandisk Ultra 128G, exFAT, Named "usb") and it worked perfectly fine.

When you first plug it in. it basically shows nothing. You just have to wait a few minutes and it'll start updating.

Oh, and during a few of the updates the truck was pulling ~61 amps off my maintainer.

Yeah, the Lightning and the Mach-E aren't going to get by with the Clore 20Amp power supply that so many of us use with our ICE F150

(I use a 50Amp for those long Mach-E updates)

I see I have an IPC update on my new 2025. Do these still take hours and run the risk of soft bricking the IPC like happened when I had my 2022 truck? Also have a BCM update and resultant PTSD from that killing headlight modules a couple years ago.

The IPC update on the ‘24 modules has caused many to go black and beep but pulling the battery for 15 minutes brings it back to life and allows the module to finish the update the second time. Yes it still uses the USB and it takes a long time, especially doing it twice and waiting for it to reset with the battery disconnected.

The BCM very likely takes a dealer login for security reasons so you very likely can’t do that one. None of us have that permission.

The 2025 and 2024 have a slightly different architecture. Not sure if the IPC will be problematic like it has been for some 2024 owners. We can walk you through it if something happens, though.

Might have bricked my CMR, anyone know how long a PMI should take? I’m nearing an hour and a half of “internal operation in progress”

I wish there was a progress bar or something nearing 2 hours of PMI so far.

@Diligenthunter Did you lose internet or anything in the process? I've had them hang before. Why are you doing a PMI?
Was doing an update, moved my laptop and dislodged the power cord. Then my laptop went to sleep and failed the update.

Kinda assumed I’d need to do it.

Restarted PMI, I have a progress bar now.

Yea, it should not have hung at "internal operation in progress" that long. Restarting the PMI is what I would have done. It should take 45-60 minutes max.

Are you using a Mongoose or something else?

Seems to be all good, starting the actual update now.

Hate posting the panicked, oh crap what did I do moments.
Next time, when you do the PMI and FDRS asks if you are using the original module, select no. That way, it will recover it and update it at the same time.

I did select no, I think all the issues were the laptop attempting to sleep.

Truck I believe is fully updated and has a date with the dealer ship tomorrow for recalls and warranty work galore.
