Excellent. Will give this a try over the canbus.

I had the exact same experience and did the update over canbus. I hooked the truck up to a charger and let the update run over night. Worked perfectly and any update requiring the USB drive has worked smoothly.

This my list of modules that currently needing updated, thanks to a member in the VIN check thread. I finally got everything needed to be able to do it myself and I am going to try to get it done this weekend. @Jesse-Infotainment can you or anyone with the knowledge advise me of which of these I should start with first? I know that after some of them have been updated, more could show up. Also, I am completely new to FDRS. Thanks in advance for any advise/help.

I often see people writing about FDRS servers going down for maintenance on Sundays - I would try to aim to get most of it done Friday/Saturday

those updates are all unrelated, you can do them in any order. BCm and IPC are the big ones. Once you do those two it will unlock more. I would probably do them last so the least is clear when new ones start showing up.

@bryce600rr The IPC update will take a couple hours most likely, so don't do that at the end of the day. Sunday morning is typically a spotty time for updates, usually between like 9-10A eastern time, ±hour.

It either works or it doesn't. If it fails more than once, I would not waste any more time and just take the long route. Make sure whatever USB you use has a short name like "sync" or 'ford".

And if you start in the morning, a shot of Baileys in the coffee works well or start in the afternoon a shot of Crown Royal Peach in ice tea is a great one also.

I just did my IPC yesterday. It errored out with USB stick but worked through the can bus. But it did take forever( about 5 hours).

No. The Canbus method does not require any additional hardware, it writes from FDRS over the Mongoose. The TSB you linked is for something else.

When doing the updates, would it be beneficial to connect an Ethernet cable between the modum and computer to increase speed and connection reliability? My WiFi is fairly fast but the Ethernet hardwired speed is around 1GBPS with no dropouts.

You would download the usb files, put them on a USB drive then remove and plug that drive into the USB port on the truck. So you would be fine.
