I am curious what it would require and cost for us to fix this horrible IPC issue.

A lot more than a Mongoose and FDRS license....that's for sure. You can get a used one on ebay for $500, but you'd still need a Mongoose and FDRS to program it. Hopefully, it doesn't have the same problem. A new one through the dealer would be a few grand with labor and programming.I am curious what it would require and cost for us to fix this horrible IPC issue.
It seems like you are leaving too many opportunities for something to go wrong with the process that takes that long to complete compared to a quick USB update. I have no choice but the CAN option and not paying that kind of money to fix it.A lot more than a Mongoose and FDRS license....that's for sure. When it drops for my truck, I'll CAN that b*itch in on a Sunday while I watch football and consume alcoholic beverages.
If I remember correctly when I spoke to @Jesse-Infotainment about this a while back, he said that he's had IPCs on his workbench that he was not able to communicate via the ethernet port. Is it possible that some of the trucks affected have a loose connection? I would have to say it is possible. For those with the IPC problem, is there any chance that it's as simple as a loose/unplugged wire or cable somewhere? I'm not familiar with the connections to/from the IPC or where they may go back to.
Now I'm curious.. where is this module located to check connections? If I remember correctly when I spoke to @Jesse-Infotainment about this a while back, he said that he's had IPCs on his workbench that he was not able to communicate via the ethernet port. The IPC is your instrument panel cluster. You'd have to pull it out of your dashboard to check the connections. Now I'm curious.. where is this module located to check connections?
Its the cluster. Now I'm curious.. where is this module located to check connections?
My sphincter tightens every time I see a BCM update. That's the module update that bricked my truck last year. Fingers crossed!New BCM showing for the truck today
here's a question - what if the latest IPC update is to fix something related to this? Its the cluster.
Issue I have seen personally is the ethernet port doesnt work on some clusters. I have had a few clusters I have attempted to update via USB not work. The ether net is used to update the Cluster. Thankfully the ethernet isnt needed for BC to work. The IPMA ethernet is required for BC to work.
So if you have an IPC that had constant IPC ota fails then it may be due to the ethernet not working.
No real good way to explain to the dealer you need a new cluster because the ethernet isnt working.
I wouldnt want my cluster replaced anyways. Dealers have goofed up several of the guys that had them replaced by not inputting the mileage correctly and the Engine Hours.
Might be related to TSB 23-2407, which just came out a couple of days ago. If it is, expect a new PCM update to follow:New BCM showing for the truck today
It wont fix it until its installed so they would still have to go the long route.here's a question - what if the latest IPC update is to fix something related to this?
