Hi all,

New to the forums. I have a 2023 F-150 Lariat.

A little history. My driver side window was not working properly since I bought the truck in June of 2023. I brought it back numerous times, but the problem persisted. The window would get stuck when all the way down.

Finally, after the 5th time bringing it in, they seem to have fixed the window. It's been good now for the last couple months.

However, I have the most annoying door rattle every time I go over a bump or a bumpy road in general. Needless to say, it's SUPER annoying and should not happen on a new truck.

Of course, I let them know and they said they don't notice it (which is impossible).

Now, I'm not sure if there is a rattle because they had to take the door panel off so many time to address my window issue, or if its something else.

I've read other forums where people experience a rattle, and remove the mirror panel and tighten some screws.

This particular rattle seems like its coming more from the handle of the door, or even the hinge.

The hinge is tight and screwed on properly. Handle seems fine as well.

Wondering if anyone has had a similar issue or if they know of anything that would cause this.

The dealership, although helpful at times, is very disappointing. They seem annoyed that I want my truck fixed - btw, I also have extended warranty.

Please let me know if there's anything I can do. I can't take the rattle!!

Back when the 14th gens were new, there was an issue with some trucks coming from the factory with a loose nut on the side view mirror that caused rattling. I didn't look for threads, but there are a couple along with how to fix it.

You could pop the interior panel off and just see for yourself if there is any thing they obviously forgot to attach...There are a lot of push/pull cables, wire harness', in there and anything left loose could cause a rattle.

There is 3-4 screws and bunch of snap clips that hold the panel on. You'll want to use a plastic pry tool to pop the snap clips out, if you use a metal pry tool, you'll likely scratch stuff.

Not sure how far off the door you'll be able to get the panel, it all depends on how much 'free' range/travel those cables and harness' have .

Hi,

Yes I'm aware of those issues, and I've seen some videos. The sound does not seem like its coming from there at all!

Seems like a distinct rattle from the door hinge area.

Hi,

Appreciate the response. I don't trust myself at all to do any of that! I'm too scared to ruin something. Also, I don't want to do anything to the window again. It took a year to fix!

If you dont want to take it apart yourself and dont want to mess with the dealer you could consider taking it to an audio shop and have them add sound deadening or block off panels to the door. They would have to take the door apart and put it back together, and would likely do a better job since its all about eliminating unwanted noise.

shake and bang on the door to see if you can locate the issue. Taking off the door panel is pretty simple. Some people have found screws inside of the door and that rattles just as you'd expect a steel screw in an aluminum door to do.

I don`t know if this is any help but it`s a pretty good video of f150 door panel removal. I have no clue on why Ford insist on screwing up drivers doors on some trucks. You can`t hear yourself think going down the road with all the wind noise in my 21. GLTA

My driver door rattled over bumps because the striker wasn't adjusted inboard far enough - the door didn't seal tight against the body and would rattle. It makes a very distinct rattle sound.

I adjusted the striker and all is well.

A little goes a long way when adjusting the strikers. Loosen the bolts (don't remove fully) and then tap with a mallet or hammer and block of wood on striker assembly. Not too much.

I need to look into this on the driver's side door, some of the music I listen to (rock, heavy metal or ALT metal) is a little more on the "bassy" side and induces a tiny rattle (doesn't help I have dog ears). I've been pressing my knee against the mid-area arm rest (where the door grip-latch resides) and can make it disappear.

I didn't notice during the Spring, but as soon the weather turned warm, and by warm I meant 95F with high humidity!

Hi there! I can look into your F-150's noise concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your F-150’s VIN?

Yes! I feel like that’s exactly where it’s coming from. I did check and it was as tight as can be.
Are you suggesting it’s not far enough towards the car seat. That direction? Or adjust it more in an up and down manner?

Thank you!
