Wait what am I missing here. You can turn off adaptive cruise right on the screen and just have “normal” cruise.
Correct. Yes, you can turn off Adaptive Cruise Control in the Sync4 menu. Turn it off, and Ford will never let you forget that you turned it off. With Adaptive Cruise Control turned off, every time you you engage cruise control for the first time per engine-start cycle, you get a warning chime and pop up message telling you that you Adaptive Cruise is turned off. In other words, even though the truck owner has the option to turn off Adaptive, Ford doesn't want you to turn it off - so they nag you to turn it back on.

That’s interesting. I don’t think it tells me that. I’ll have to check tomorrow. At least I don’t remember it.

Yep, which once I added everything, seeing that blew my mind that is bugs you that much when you have ACC disabled, but it has to do with the automatic braking pretty much. So as usual the lawyers got their hands in here to make sure every single time it lets you know that the truck won't brake for you automatically like it does when using ACC, so you have to drive it... like you normally do the majority of the time already... Pretty soon we're just going have 10 different screens to accept through every key cycle just to drive the dang thing. Especially after the Tesla recall yesterday where now they have to make them more naggy because people don't know how to drive.

Forgive my rant, but I never had issues with the warning since I use ACC every day and love it, so I have no quarrel with it. I'll do some playing this weekend when I have time and let you know what I find.

Rants are good. They let us blow off steam and help us maintain our sanity in an otherwise sanity-challenging world. ?

As I tried to express in my OP, I intend no disrespect to those who desire/love Active Cruise - MANY, many do. That's cool. Good for you guys. I'm just not one of those. To each their own. I also believe that I am not alone, and there are also many who don't like it. To me, whether you like it or don't is not the point. The issue is that even though you clearly have a choice and do have the option to turn it off, Ford obviously has a preference and wants to enforce their preference on you. So if you turn it off, Ford wants to nag you into conforming to their way way of thinking.

On a more positive note, I think it is awesome that so many people on this forum are so generous with their time and talents, and are willing to contribute both to help out others. And you appear to be one of those. A tip of the hat to you sir. I very much appreciate your time and efforts in helping me - and those like me.

I understand OP's frustration but I also think it's a safety issue. I use ACC every day for my commute in heavy stop and go traffic. If OP (or a family member) borrowed my truck and turned off ACC, I DEFINITELY need a warning. Otherwise I'm going to rear end someone or at least scare the crap out of myself when I realized the truck isn't braking.

IMO the only safe way to disable the warning and chime is to totally disable ACC.

I hope you are successful in achieving your goal!

Me too. Sometimes my warning chime goes off for no apparent reason. At times I'm sorry I bought this truck. "Check back seat", seriously?
My 2021 Gladiator had none of it.

I don't know anything about Forscan but I have turned off everything I possibly could in the menu system.
The check back seat message drives me nuts. I've disabled it twice already, but as mentioned it re-enables itself after 6 months.

That's weird. I disabled mine when I bought the truck in 2021 and it has never come back on.
Same here. However the setting has reverted back a couple times after a major software update, but that’s it.

Hmm, when I disable it, there's a message stating that it will be disabled for 6 months.

I think you hit the nail on the head there. If you run ACC all the time, then someone else drives it and turns it off, then you hop back in, you would really have no sudden idea ACC was disabled otherwise until it was maybe too late. You can tell by different animations on the cluster, but if you don't pay attention, you could expect it to slow down following someone and it doesn't.

That's an easy disable with forscan

Given that particular scenario as an example, I can understand your point of view regarding safety, at least to a certain extent. I hope that it puts your mind at ease to know that I can assure you that that same scenario is NOT applicable to me. With the exception of Ford personnel, quite literally, no one has driven my truck but me since I took delivery of it in March '22. I am the only driver. And as I've already indicated in an earlier post, if I sell the truck, using FORScan, I can reinstate all ACC aspects and return the truck to its original state. No worries.

@superfordman : I take it you have no good news to share with me regarding this....

Everything I know about FORScan, I've learned on this forum (before this forum, I had never even heard of it!), and my knowledge - although slowly growing - is currently highly limited. I guess being such a neophyte contributes to me being in awe of you techies who can follow the architecture and logic of things like this.

Not yet, I didn't have time to mess with it much this weekend but will try to here soon and let you know what I find.

It's a busy time of year - everybody has soooo much stuff going on! I get it. No pressure, no worries. I'm grateful for your efforts. (My bad - sometimes I get a little excited and my patience suffers ;)).

I desperately want to disable the keep your eyes on the road, or keep your hands on the wheel messages.

I must drive too perfectly because the stupid truck thinks I’m never holding on. I’m to the point where I think I need to drink and drive to get less nannies.
