The Forscan gurus have made tons of progress in cracking codes to activate desirable features and disabling annoying warnings (double honk, seat belt, etc.) - thank you!

The number of different warnings on my truck are many, with the majority of them being painfully annoying. There is one in particular that has grown more despised by me than even the hated double-honk: the Adaptive Cruise Control Turned Off warning chime accompanied by the flash message:

Ford F-150 Disable "Nanny" Warnings - Forscan? Snip-it_1702390451530

I use cruise control virtually every time I use the truck, and I am not a fan of Adaptive Cruise (personal preference - for those of you who love it, then good for you - it's just not for me), so it is turned off. As a result, I get the warning chime and message every time I first engage it (I think I've grown to hate the chime the most...). If I have a passenger, inevitably they'll ask, "What was that?", "What happened?", or "What's wrong?" when the warning chime sounds after I first engage cruise. I'm guessing that I'm not alone, and have high hopes that this can be addressed through Forscan.

i honestly doubt there is a Forscan fix for this. they have the message pop up for safety reasons i’m sure.

I'm not so sure about that.... I am still very much a neophyte when it comes to Forscan, but the little bit that I have learned has taught me that there is a whole world of controls within Forscan.

Safety? The double-honk was arguably for safety, and it was defeated through Forscan. Seat belt warning - definitely for safety - and it can be defeated through Forscan. Adaptive Cruise Control versus Normal (Adaptive turned off) Cruise Control? I do not see the safety argument. "Normal" Cruise Control has been around since the 1960's; Adaptive is relatively new. I would further argue that if it were a safety-related item, Ford would not allow you to turn off Adaptive Cruise Control.

I'm just sick of the warning chime and message window!

Me too. Sometimes my warning chime goes off for no apparent reason. At times I'm sorry I bought this truck. "Check back seat", seriously?
My 2021 Gladiator had none of it.

I don't know anything about Forscan but I have turned off everything I possibly could in the menu system.

I understand your reasoning....

What irritates me is the beauty that you can turn off a "feature" (Adaptive Cruise Control, in this case) in the vehicle menu, but if you do, you are penalized with warnings/reminders that you just excercised an option that they themselves gave you!

This sucks because even with it disabled I believe it will STILL ask you twice a year if you want to re-enable it.

The other one that annoys the SHIT out of me is the "Lane Keep Assist Disabled" or whatever it is that comes on about every 30 minutes. I know it's off. You are incapable of maintaining the lane if I turn it on and it's annoying fighting you.

Yes, it can be disabled, but that will pretty much completely disable adaptive cruise as well, so all you'd have is normal cruise if that's all ever wanted. I would have to mess around to see if there is just one or two values to change that would simply disabled the cluster message without messing with everything else.

FAN-FREAKIN'-TASTIC!!!! Yes, yes, yes! If you can figure out how to turn off the warning chime and warning message through Forscan, I'd be in your debt!

To answer your question: if you have to turn off Adaptive Cruise completely, virtually killing it (through Forscan), I would be completely fine with that. I never use Adaptive - don't like it - so it won't bother me if you have to kill it to shut up the warnings. I might add that my reasoning also includes the thought that if I ever sell the truck, I can go back into Forscan and turn Adaptive back on.

Edit: Kill Adaptive? OK. But keep "Standard" / "Normal" cruise control.

The one thing that does irk me with the adaptive cruise is I think the shortest following distance is way too far away at the higher speeds. It’s fine at the lower speeds.

Occasionally I will turn off adaptive, but then immediately just turn it back on once I see all the warnings that pop up when you do. So I’m with ya OP.

Ok yep, can do. Essentially if you follow my Add ACC guide below and do the exact opposite of all those changes, that would also accomplish it, but that might be a tad overkill in your case and should be able to be done with less changes I would think.

I've noticed that here recently as well. The follow distance is speed dependant/adaptive, but here lately especially, it seems like the one bar, closest settings, follows further behind than it use to. Maybe just me as well, but especially on the highway doing 70 it seemed to follow closer on my old 21 than my 23 now, but that would all be due to newer IPMA software as well.

Yeah my new truck definitely stays further back than both of my gen 13 F150’s. It only seems not quite right when doing like 70+.

However when I’m towing my trailer it’s almost perfect (which makes sense). When I’m not towing it seems to frustrate me more than it should.

I would also be interested in turning off the warnings if possible. I think that might be hard to track down though? Without just taking adaptive out completely like you mentioned? Maybe not.

You lost me.

Still following with tremendous interest, but I have no idea what you just said in your quote above. I saw no "Add ACC guide" below. Be patient with me.... I want this to happen! But you may have to take me by the hand and slow-walk me through it....

You mentioned that you thought doing the opposite of the Add ACC guide might be overkill, and thought that there may be a simpler way to achieve the same results. If that's the case, then I agree with you - simpler is better. Generally speaking, it has been my experience that actions that are deemed overkill frequently have their own set of unintended consequences....

So, bottom line: I'm guessing that you are still experimenting with this, and trying different things? I apologize in advance if I sound a little over-eager (but I am!), I'm just pretty excited about this....

He was talking about the first link in his signature. He gathered up all the Forscan changes needed to add adaptive cruise (and other features, because he is a rockstar). Which is why he said essentially doing those changes in reverse would remove the feature.

Wait what am I missing here. You can turn off adaptive cruise right on the screen and just have “normal” cruise.

Ah, now I get it - thanks for taking the time to explain his comments to me. That explains a lot of things. I guess I'll just have to be patient while @superfordman continues to research a simpler way to disable the warnings (presumably he's researching it - on top of everything else he's working on!).
