Cant use it in parking mode correct ?
Only when truck is on. You’d have to go through fuse box wiring and all that for constant power. It’s not a necessity for my parking situations.

I also have this set up from Ford plus it's supposedly plug and play. Super clean installation.
@Lon, would you mind posting pictures of the install? Did you install or the dealer? Thanks!

I was going to take pictures of the install, but it was to easy. Unplug sole connector on mirror. Put in pigtail connector. Connect up everything and plug in USB for the camera. I am honestly suprised at how easy it was. The hardest part was diconnecting the mirror power cord. That was only bad because I hate automotive connectors. Bam, installed in 5 minutes.

I have a topper on my truck and would like to mount the rear camera to the topper rear window, any cams that have a long cable?

I plan on getting a dashcam, and was looking into how to run the cable to the rear camera. Has anyone gone just straight back through the headliner? I've tried searching and all the posts I find say about going down the A pillar and around. I realize going right to the rear through the headliner will leave a lot of excess cable, but it's there a reason people don't route the wiring that way? It would seem to avoid the airbags as well, so another bonus.

Linus over at LTT did some comparisons with what I would call some surprising results on quality. Worth a watch if you are looking for a dash cam if you ask me.

My method of routing and avoiding the airbag was to remove the passenger side A-pillar cover first - it came off easy with just two 10mm bolts holding it in place . That allowed me to run both the power and rear camera cable behind the A-pillar airbag. Then I removed the front door weather stripping on the A-pillar and ran both cables under the weather stripping and footwell door sill trim. For the rear camera cable I continued to route it under the backdoor passenger side footwell and then back up the C pillar trim at the back window. Since the fuse panel is near the passenger side front door it made sense to me to route all my cables under the passenger side A-Pillar airbag.

I suppose if you want to try and power off the rear view mirror you may have a better argument to route the rear camera cable under the headliner. I'm guessing it is just as much work trying to fish the cable under the headliner if not more than routing under the A-Pillar.

Picture below shows my cable routing path (RED) in the A-Pillar. Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words.

I have the Dongar adapter for power from the rear-view, so yeah, that's why I'm looking at just going through the headliner. I do have a flat fish tape I could use to make the process of getting across a little easier as well.

i put in the thinkware U1000 front and rear with the OBD cable for pwr and parking pwr.
its pretty darn good so far, took a bit to get it to talk to truck and smart phone. but once it un screwed the operators head it was easy
video is pretty darn good the video in the dudes comparison is pretty crappy compared to my u1000 actual video, its clear and crisp.
my you tube video is compressed and not good quality upload because i was not going to wait 2 hrs to upload 30 seconds of HD video
