I just got my 302a xlt Powerboost with just about every option and I couldn't ask for anything more. Had an XLT 301 regular cab before. I would miss the 302a...

Personally, while I would have a hard time giving up the 4A transfer case, I would always rather pay for a *new* truck with a full warranty if the cost is going to be similar. Bells and whistles aren’t important enough for me.

I agree, 302a is where it’s at. Couldn’t do 301 anymore….

They should give us test drives in multiple option time allotments. It'd even be OK to charge for anything longer than say.... 24 hours.

A week for an XLT 302A at $200 VS a Platinum or KingRanch at $300.

You could live with each for a week and have FAR LESS chance of buyers remorse or wondering if you made the right decision.

I know. I'm dreaming.
This would have saved me. In June I got an XLT. Traded it for a Lariat in July. Then finally a Platinum in August. Then again, I have a problem. I joke that I am a member of the Truck Of The Month club. Maybe not only a member but the president as well.

What's your budget (monthly payment, all in, etc)?

I would want the Lariat. I like my XLT 302A but I would have liked memory seats, heated steering wheel, and the digital cluster. You can try asking in the VIN thread about it to see how far behind on updates it is.

Are you willing to travel for a deal on a new truck?
I want none of those things. I want ACC and Blue Cruise!!

If some circumstance came along and resulted in me losing my fully dolled up KingRanch Powerboost CCD and then being replaced with a 302A XLT Powerboost.......

My absolutely MUST retrofit options would NOT include Bluecruise or even the heated steering wheel, much less the awesome multicontour seats.
But I definitely would add ACC, Lane Centering, and 4A transfer case.

Then probably Katskinz and some 2.5 DSC Fox, to rid me of my pouting over losing my massaged CCD and Anti-glare projectors.

I'm pretty sure I'd be enamored enough to be satisfied.

I've had many Ford F-150 trucks over the years, 3 year lease for the business and trade in each time. I have always been very happy with the XTR FX4 with Max Tow package. Have had a number of the engines, 5.0L, 3.5L Ecoboost and the last one was a 3.5L Powerboost. I have been really happy with all of them but the Powerboost, which although I really enjoyed the features and driving it, having it refuse to start "SSN" when needed made it an unreliable lemon in my books, so got rid of it.

I ended up trading it for a used 21 5.0L Lariat. This is the first time I have had this high of a trim level.

Overall, never really been a fan of leather seats, they are hot and sweaty in the summer and cold in the winter, but heated and cooled seats help that.

Adaptive head lights are only available in Lariat or higher packages and I really like them, although had to turn them on with Forescan.

Still reach for the gear shifter on the tree, slowly getting used to the sport console shift. With the column shift the work surface was actually more useful as my young lady could use it while driving, console shifter means work surface has to be stowed while driving so not as useful.

This is the first time I have been able to get the 4A transmission, as it was not available in lower trims, so looking forward to it this winter.

Now as for the OP's quest, The bells and whistles are nice, but will you use them, or will you miss them if you do not have them. The XLT is a nicely appointed truck for which for the last many years has not left me wishing I had more features. It drove really well, had a good payload and handled towing the trailers I need to move around. Cloth seats were very durable and often more comfortable than the leather.

The 5.0L engine seems to be a good reliable engine, and free of all the turbos. Don't think I've ever seen a 2.7L on the lot locally, nor have I ever considered it, I'm after a truck for towing, and hauling and want the bigger engines.

I'm at somewhat of a disadvantage not having experienced Bluecruise, ACC, or lane centering in an F150. I would want that good driver-assist stuff I don't have lol. I'm considering 4A but I'm averse to selling good original parts. I also wonder if the 4A adds additional heat etc.

Once I actually start towing my decisions might come quickly lol. Katzkin is a for sure once I put some more wear on these nice cloth seats.

If you have no intentions of actuality driving down the road without your hands touching the steering wheel, then Bluecruise is just ACC and Lane Centering anyways.
Don't get me wrong. It's kinda cool to watch the instrument panel transform into Bluecruise mode. And it's fun to let go of the wheel and convince yourself it's real. And it is.
But hands in my lap or clapping to Queen, for me, couldn't get beyond a momentary novelty. My hands end up on the wheel even if I am allowing the truck to drive itself.

Which, by the way, is exactly what ACC/Lane Centering is. Bluecruise with your hands on the wheel, even if just a place to place them. Naturally.

Just the musings of one old man with a fully loaded offering from Ford. I absolutely love the truck. It's wicked. But that eye scanner isn't worth the party trick.

Agree with this on Jeeps. I’ve got a 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. I love it, but have a 2024 F150 on order. Jeeps just aren’t very family friendly and definitely not good on long trips. But it was fun around town with the top off or out on the trails.

That's what I would want right there. My Outback has it and it's wonderful for fatigue prevention, or if we're looking around at the scenery a bit more than usual, etc.
It has the scanning Nanny which I like when I get in the vehicle because she recognizes me and adjusts everything to my liking. I'm serious about everything. We have our own profiles loaded :)
I don't like how she tells me to keep my eyes on the road or put my hands back on the wheel blah blah blah...pipe down! I already have a wife for that ;)

The lariat is a 2.7. I could swing a 2.7 or 5.0 on the new xlt
Well it seems this is your daily driver and you traded a 2.7 so going back shouldn’t be an issue. So now you’re down to the specs between the 2.7 and 5.0 and of course color package options etc. over time there seems to be a pretty solid MPG difference between the 2.7 and 5.0. That should be considered.

between the two trucks are there any certain features that stand out to you? You could share the window stickers of what you’re looking at and the people on here would give you advice for days!!!

Wishing you luck on your quest to make the wife happy…let’s be real it’s never going to happen! It’s all about compromise ?

Do yourself a favour and buy something besides a Ford. The quality of these trucks is terrible and Ford does everything it can to get out of warrantying anything.

Mine started out as a 302a, not sure what I'd consider it at this point. I'm finalizing a couple projects on it right now.
The only thing that'd make it better is adding a ~160kW motor into the transfer case / prop shaft w/ a 8kWh additional battery in place of the muffler / resonator (I've roughly blueprinted it w/ LFP cells and the logic/means of control ... :D but I must avoid such things for the time being).
