Locally they are giving decent deals with the xplan I get through work and the lariat for the same price is 2.5 hours away.
If you ever find yourself with an extra of your two "friends and family" xplan code to give away that you wont use at the end of the year hit a brother up!

I used to get xplan through the mustang club of america but they discontinued them in canada. Been looking to get an explorer for the wife.

It was a much better off road vehicle.
Couldn't agree more. IMO, a stock F-150 IS NOT in the same off-road caliber as a stock Jeep. My definition of an off-road vehicle is not my F-150 ;)

I traded my 21 xlt 302a in for a Jeep Gladiator in Feb and I already regret that decision and have convinced the wife to let me trade back into a F150 as long as it doesn’t cost me anymore money.
Gosh, I thought I was the only one that did that :) I have a 2022 F-150 STX BAP 5.0. Traded it for a 2023 F-150 XLT High 3.5 EB, did not like it at all. Called the dealership the next week to discuss getting my 2022 back.

My point, the STX models are pretty dang nice. I added power fold mirrors and a big screen for me. I didn't really care about all the other accoutrements the XLT offered.

The Stx in my opinion is the best value in the entire lineup. That being said, I still got an XLT but if my budget were more a concern I'd stick to an STX all day long.

There is a difference between friends and family. A Plan is employees and family. Much better than X Plan.

what kinds of issues did you have!
o give you a bit of background, This is my 10th new truck in my life, and about my 35th vehicle so here we go...

At least 4 recalls including the wiper motor that I had to wait more than a year for,

Screen does not work half the time when it is -30, gave up on getting it resolved,

Paint on roof has dirt in it, but didn't want to get it redone as I'm sure it would not be better than original plus they would have to disassemble the sunroof and headliner so I'm sure it would be dirty or worse than doing nothing,

All 4 wheels have the garbage PVD chrome peeling,

One running board has the pvd chrome peeling,

Front diff seal leaked,

The OTA updates are crap and setting change such as leaving the lights on and turning the collision avaoidance back on.

Had to shut of the reverse back up thing because when cold the brakes would suddenly slam on and just about break your neck while backing up now I getting the annoying dinging telling me it is shut off everytime I put it in reverse,

The shifter is sloppy and terrible and the easily goes past reverse to park, so you have to be 100% sure you are stopped,

The shifting is intermittently horrible and it bangs and is rough,

The quality of the "leather" is a joke. I was used to the leather in GMC's and this is the worst vinyl I've ever seen,

The plastic is cheap,

Seats are uncomfortable and your ass hurts on a long trip,

Engine has a lag or bog to it on harder acceleration such as when you hit the gas trying to get accross traffic at lower speeds,

The standard answer for most it the lingering issues is "can not replicate".. I really don't like having my truck at the dealer knowing that it won't be resolved.

I'm sure there are other things that I have blocked from memory. This truck has 23000km (about 15000 miles)

Funny, I did similar. Traded my '13 F150 Limited in on a '20 gladiator rubicon. Wife hated it and a far worse family vehicle. Only had it six months before I was in my '22 XLT. Oh well.

For 2024 the 2.7EB is the base engine 5.0 and 3.5EB are options.

Go base XLT 302a 2.7EB for the better headlights and push button start being you already had a 21 302a.

Look for one that's been setting just waiting for the right driver.

You may not get all you had in your 21 but your not driving a 2nd hand truck that for some reason didn't end up down below the border in the USA or 2ndly very upset about poor headlights in the 300 or 301a.

Went down the costly rabbit hole of having to have a (16) 501a then a (18) 502a then a (19) 701a, now back into the XLT that is the right fit.

Good Luck

I don't mean to distract from the thread here, pile on this post, or be a negative Nancy. I feel others that cross paths here can benefit from positive and (politely) negative posts. It's this type of post that steers me away from the other "2 brands." You would be a fool to believe the other makers don't have their share of problems too, just pick the pile of trouble that fits you and move forward, that includes "yotas" too (I owned two and never again).

As I said, I owned a 2023 F-150 XLT for about 10 days and 460 miles before I traded it back for my 2022 F-150 STX.
Screen does not work half the time when it is -30, gave up on getting it resolved,
I experienced the same, but in 70*/100* Texas summer. It would boot, stay on long enough to back out of the garage, shift from rev to drive, then black for a couple of minutes, then boot again and worked fine after that.
Paint on roof has dirt in it.
The same thing on my Black XLT! I didn't have a sunroof though. The paint covered the sand or grit so it was there before painting.
The shifter is sloppy and terrible and the easily goes past reverse to park, so you have to be 100% sure you are stopped,
I agree, the console shifter felt cheap as heck. It wobbled, jiggled, wiggled, just sloppy Ford come'on. I'm sure it's like that to fold away, but when you grab a hold of the shiter it should be solid. I must say, the console shifter in my Jeep Gladiator, spot on, firm, solid, accurate, nice. And the column shifter in my STX is just as nice and old school.
The plastic is cheap,
Still better than GM's Mattel look and feel IMO.
Seats are uncomfortable and your ass hurts on a long trip,
100% agree in the XLT I had. I liked the back side bolsters though. My STX is the opposite, too soft for me, I sink (I weight 190#). I need to add something so the bottom seat foam doesn't squish through the wires under there.
Engine has a lag or bog to it on harder acceleration such as when you hit the gas trying to get accross traffic at lower speeds,
The XLT I had was a 3.5 EB, 3.55 gearing. While it was zippy, the initial take off was laggy. Not uncommon for turbo chargers, but the low speed turbo is suppose to take care of the lag. My three previous F-150's had the same engine/gearing and were nothing like that; very responsive.

"PowerBeast" - our 2021 F150 Lariat 4x4 Powerboost
If some circumstance came along and resulted in me losing my fully dolled up KingRanch Powerboost CCD and then being replaced with a 302A XLT Powerboost.......

My absolutely MUST retrofit options would NOT include Bluecruise or even the heated steering wheel, much less the awesome multicontour seats.
But I definitely would add ACC, Lane Centering, and 4A transfer case.

Then probably Katskinz and some 2.5 DSC Fox, to rid me of my pouting over losing my massaged CCD and Anti-glare projectors.

I'm pretty sure I'd be enamored enough to be satisfied.
It seems to me there are some points to consider before heading down the "just buy an XLT and retofit" path.

  • Do you have the skills (and tools) needed to do the desired retrofits?
  • Do you have the time needed to do the desired retrofit work?
  • Will you have enough extra cash to buy the retrofit parts?
  • If all the above are true, do you have the desire to do multiple retrofit projects (be honest with yourself)?
  • Do you have sufficient motivation and persistence to see these retofits through (again, be honest with yourself)?
  • Are you fairly certain you will be keeping your truck for quite a while?
  • While you can retrofit a XLT into a Lariat or better, when you go to sell or trade-in it is still a XLT.
  • If you sell or trade after a few years most of your time and money will be lost.
  • The longer you keep the truck:
    • The more value delta between an XLT and a Lariat becomes less and less (thanks to depreciation)
    • The more time you have to enjoy the fruits of the money and time you've invested in your truck!

The more I look around at dealerships I seem to be drawn to the stx package. I thought the big downside to that basic of a truck would be the lack of bLIS but the non BLIS trucks have the little secondary mirrors which show your blind spot. So you look at your mirror to see if the light is on or you look at a mirror showing your blind spot. Plus the blind spot mirrors help when backing into a spot or parallel parking because they shows your tires

You can have BLIS on the STX, I have it on mine. The new mirrors are lacking coverage down the side of the truck/rear tire/ground. Like not rubbing the curb or backing down a boat ramp and wanting to see if the rear tire is in the water.
