- 2021 F-150 King Ranch PowerBoost - no longer have this.
Gas mileage varies quite a bit for me when it comes to city driving. Anything from 15 to 28mpg. Which gas matters, the current traffic patterns, the temperature, etc. Mostly my average in our city has been about 20mpg (and I'm not a lead-foot).
In freeway driving with decent traffic and not too much headwind? Generally about 24mpg. The 30-35mpg that others have experienced has never happened for me. The best I've done outside the city has been on paved country roads when I had no traffic and could accelerate to about 55mpg and coast 1/2 mile to the next stop sign - got a legitimate 27.5mpg that way.
Upshot is that yeah, 20+ is something I get pretty routinely. For those who do far better - I admire you or your machines or both but I can't do that and I think I'm driving pretty economically.
BTW, I don't bother constantly switching to the ECO mode. I'm really not sure it is any more economical than is the standard mode. YMMV.
______
Sorta off-topic but I will probably trade my truck in for a 3/4 ton or maybe a 1-ton. I've become pretty unhappy with the danged thing.
It isn't really the Powerboost system for me but the fact that it is the King Ranch version. With the King Ranch I ended up with luxurious seats which adjust for great comfort and will do massage if you want.
The danged driver seat pneumatic system has now failed twice and for me it ends up taking weeks before I can get them fixed. So I have the potential to end up on the other end of the country and have the danged seat fail and become deucedly uncomfortable for me when I don't have an extended period of time to wait around to get it fixed. Give me a non-fancy seat with decent lumbar support.
Not happy about the axle recall and way-delayed fix.
