Have to get those idiot politicians out of office They have no common sense and they want to control everything that we do
The problem I see with that is it is like thinking after you roll a strike there will be no repetition of those dumb pins. ;)

Can one of the damn near 40 million people who live in this state explain what the draw is? The weather? I’ll take a coat before the overcrowding, taxes, junkies, homeless, cost of living, and the stripping of people’s rights please and thanks.
Exceeding the speed limit is not a right.

Another draw: Higher Income

Yes, which is why this won't become law. California, like a lot of places, has legislators that propose all kinds of crazy things. Worrying about this is like worrying about the Sun exploding. Sure, it could happen.
Haha that was my exact thought.

One dude introduces something kinda crazy and the world ignites! Take a deep breath people…. Breath in234, breath out234…

The NY camera one was interesting… how is it different from speed cameras thst have been around since the 90’s? NJ had them (then took them down, I think someone successfully claimed they violated privacy or something similar…)

And before too many more people jump all over “crazy-commie-liberal- California”, remember that since 1967, CA has had more GOP governors than Dem. (It’s even more lopsided as you go back to 1900!)

Since 1900, CA has voted GOP presidents the same number of times its voted Dem presidents (tho the last 8 elections have been Dem and last 3 gov elections have been Dem, so I get the recent history skewing everyone’s view).

Back to topic, this proposal was raised by ONE dude from a San Fran area, which has been a pretty liberal place for a long time, and it’s aimed at reducing pedestrian deaths due to speeding (tho I’m sure many will think of different ulterior motives, and that’s fine…everyone will interpret intent differently).

I have to chuckle at this whole thing because….i mean the car culture in California is as strong as it gets, man!!! If you’ve lived there, you know that cars are LIFE for many people. The average highway speed is about 80mph in the SLOW lane (where I lived in San Diego), as long as traffic wasn’t REALLY bad. I’ve honestly never lived anywhere that had that many cars going that fast every hour of every day.

Anyway, I Lived for 4 yrs in So Cal and it’s a complex, varied place like just about anywhere else in the US. Feel free to bash this proposal for fun - it ain’t getting close to being passed.

CA is blessed with some amazing natural wonders (parks, seashores, scenery, etc) and more than a few cultural wonders (museums, etc). I've enjoyed visiting many of them.

I'm happy to have missed encounters with wildfires, mud/rockslides, and earthquakes.

CA's politics, legislators, and governance in general? Well, given my personal distaste for the current situation of such in my home state of Texas, I'm not in much of a position to comment on that other than to offer that in both cases IMO there's room for improvement.

CA Born and raised here. I cannot stand the taxes, leadership, cost of living, homeless population, etc....but having traveled and visited a TON of states...this one would still be very hard to leave. The diversity in landscape and weather is incredible. I can get off work at 6am in Huntington Beach and be in some pretty incredible off-road BLM camping by 10am nowhere near anyone else with amazing views. Or I can drive 2.5 hours to the central coast to visit family in the country, where its still very much the country. I think if I was in a different financial situation I would look elsewhere, and may still when I retire, but for now like I said this is a very difficult place to leave. All that being said, if big brother starts taking over our vehicles to the extreme, I'd buy my 01 diesel excursion back or wait for someone to come out with a defeat device.

Yeah, they’re only in thruway construction zones and not in every one at that. Pretty easy to avoid as well, don’t use the NYS Thruway. Source: live in NY.
It’s how it starts. Next year it will be added to school zones, then high traffic areas, then your car will simply be unable to speed.

Hehe pish-posh... take your f-150 off-line; nobble the black knobbly-bit on the roof... no OTAs, but you can overtake on the roads....... (unless all lanes are full of 10mph-over prii (plural) and lightnings hmm?)

Camera's all over Europe. You get a ticket for 5 km over (that's about 3 mph). Can't really dispute them either. Cameras also in unmarked cars, trucks, trash cans, trailers, etc. on side of road. Residential is 30km/h in Germany. Very easy to go over.

Your license plate is tied to your driver's license and all digital. No really expired license tags in Germany or temp plates. If you don't pay your ticket in a short amount of time, process starts to suspend your plates and license. California will seem like a dream compared to the socialist police state hell in Europe .

US has it so nice... go 10-15 over, get pulled over, and just talk your self out of it.

P.S. I spent 13 years in CA before switching states. I am also an immigrant to the States, only temporary stationed in Germany, can't wait to go back to America.
