That sucks, Blackstone had a blog post in 2021 about fixing this problem by using the envelopes instead of just using the plastic containers with the label on the outside. Sounds like it didn't quite fix it.I sent in my sample a month ago in their pre-paid envelope. It's been stuck in transit for the past month. I reached out to Blackstone about this and they mentioned that this has been a problem lately. If I send in another sample, I'll do it via direct UPS.
I wish. I did the first change at 1100 miles, as soon as I got back from Granger. Did it again at 5000 but didn’t send a sample in until my 10k change. I’ll do my 30k in a month or so, it’s nice to have a record of oil changes and how the engine is wearing.Do you have an oil analysis report from the first oil drain with the factory fill that you can post? Id love to see it
Could ford be anticipating this level of shear and the motor is setup to actually run on effective 20 wt?Ooof, looks like ford synth blend is poo, that motor oil is deep into 10w-20 viscosity at temp. 5k miles is too much for that oil. If you insist on ford synth blend, tell them to run 10w-40 if you plan on keeping the truck any appreciable time.

Between wear and viscosity as indicated, no. Given the higher temperatures they appear to be running w/ 2024s, fuel dilution and moisture vaporization seem to be a priority. I've got about 4k miles on ford's full synth, granted it's 1.5yrs old as well, curious to see the results w/ it. Chains are harsh on shear which is what the GF7 oil spec is going to be focusing on. With just over 8k on my truck, I'm considering scoping it and inspecting the plugs. It gets driven at least weekly up to operating temp and I make sure to beat on it during drives once warm. Also serves to keep the LFP topped up. Still curious what the end result of the factory battery always being above 13v will end up doing to it.Could ford be anticipating this level of shear and the motor is setup to actually run on effective 20 wt?
Interesting. I drove a 24 pb for an hour in Florida in July and didn’t notice a temp difference. What’s going on with this?Between wear and viscosity as indicated, no. Did you watch the actual temps or the gauges? Several showing coolant temps up to 220 degrees under normal driving.Interesting. I drove a 24 pb for an hour in Florida in July and didn’t notice a temp difference. What’s going on with this?
Flat highway driving. Just the guage. The readout was enabled stockDid you watch the actual temps or the gauges? Several showing coolant temps up to 220 degrees under normal driving.
Yeah, it can't run as hot w/ AC as the thermostat is partially open. Did you try it with AC off where it will close up the shutters? That's where the 218 degree engine temps are coming from.Flat highway driving. Just the guage. The readout was enabled stock
AC on saw 194-198
Got it. No I didn’t.Yeah, it can't run as hot w/ AC as the thermostat is partially open. Did you try it with AC off where it will close up the shutters? That's where the 218 degree engine temps are coming from.
I had a service loaner that ran at 198 with the A/C on and then started climbing fast to 210+ with it off and I assumed the fans where malfunctioning with the A/C off.Yeah, it can't run as hot w/ AC as the thermostat is partially open.
