Bike Rack Setups - Show Yours!

Anyone have any ideas for a "Lectric" bike rack for the bed? At 66 inches unfolded, it could be a tight fit.

..I saw a product that attached them to the tailgate for easier loading and unloading; always thought a DIY version could be a good option (attach that pressure treated mount to the tailgate?):

I am with you on the DIY idea. I would just install Rivnuts in the tailgate and screw a bike mount in and out as needed. Or install L-track and use a screw down l-track mount.

I like the umbrella option, I have seen hitch mount umbrellas before but seem cumbersome with having to mount back under the tailgate. On top of the tailgate has me thinking about a DIY solution...

Tailgate pad for mtn bikes.

For trips where we need the bed, I have a 6yo Swagman 4-bike rack that works so- so and goes into the hitch. I have to loosen/turn handlebars to get more than 2 on. It folds down about 20-degree with the bikes on to allow tailgate to almost fully open, which is nice.

Kuat Piston SR, now x2, over the bed. Used to have a Kuat NV 2.0, now a Kuat Piston Pro X for the hitch. No photos of the new hitch rack yet. Love being able to throw two on with no hitch and access the bed, or to have 4 stable racks if needed when shuttling/traveling.

I use the Kuat NV 2.0 along with their Pivot to allow for the bikes to remain on the rack and still access the tailgate. I have found this setup to be essential for our camping trips. We have fat bikes with 4in tires and this is one of the few racks (at least at the time I was shopping around) that can accept that large of a tire. I've had the rack for 5+ years and no issues/love it.

Yes. I used the following parts, all from Rack Attack:
1. Rhino rack Vortex bars - 71” RRVA180B
2. Rhino rack Quick Mount leg - RRRLT600
3. Rhino rack Wuick Mount heavy duty spacer 20mm - RRQMHD20

The 20mm spacer is key, since it raises the rack just enough that the handle on the RetraxPro XR can slide underneath.

Oh - this is a good tip on the spacer. I'll have to order those since I have same setup with retrax xr and rhino rack and the handle catches. Otherwise liking this setup, though I think going to grab different racks for on top as I have Yakima High Rollers and they are sort of a pain in the ass to use. I'd rather pop off the front tire and just get something that fork mounts. I had just bought wheel on because they used to be on my GTI and didn't have much room for wheels in the back.

Love my 1up super duty hitch rack but I can’t use it when towing the camper. So I finally used my FordPass points in conjunction with 25% off an item to get the Thule crossbars and risers (no issues with the retrax handle).

Just put the first 1up roof rack, flush mount on. Nice to have an options for the bikes.

..Tried a fork clamp for a single carry with a tent, but didn't like taking the wheel off:

If you use the foot pedal and tilt the rack down, can u drop the tailgate without it hitting the rack?

The tailgate would rest on the rack a few inches short of fully down, until I swapped the hitch bar for a longer one that Lolo sells. With the longer bar there is about 1-2 inches of tailgate clearance with the rack in its second notch / angle setting.

A friend just bought the vertical Tule Revert, and I'm hoping to borrow it and see how it works with the tailgate some time in the next few weeks

Great info. Thank you. The bar from lolo, is it just a hitch extender? Or is it a longer bar on the rack itsself?
