There's never any single "Best" for anything - just a 'best' for your particular needs, availabilities, whims, and fancies.

Choices are good and all have pros and cons relative to any particular person's circumstances.

I am also having problems with my 2022 battery that is 18 months old. can I put an H8 in it with no problems? I know I got to reset the BMS, but do I need to use forscan to tell the truck that the battery is bigger? I am already running a higher charge % thanks to forscan. Its nothing this time of year to have my truck sit for 7-10 days. tonight I went into it, no lights would come on. I hook up charger and its 11.6 volts. It used to be able to sit for 3 weeks with no issues.

H8 will fit fine in my truck. Just reset the BMS via brake pedal/brights. Nothing else to do or adjust.

Picked up a H8 battery today, it's on charge right now, Canada Proof with 60 month free replacement warranty. I've tried two H6 batteries, the stock battery and a friends few month old battery and neither have held up. I keep getting shutting down to safe battery errors.

First truck I've ever had that is so hard on batteries! Way more bells, whistles and electronic gadgetry in this Lariat than any of the previous trucks I've had.

H8 unless it's a Powerboost, then H7 maximum due to modules in way.

The truck's aren't hard on batts, the BMS is just dogshit for charging. I did a 13 minute drive with the stock AGMs and even with blower 5 at 15v the damn thing picked up 1% SOC from 55-56%. With the small LFP in it would have picked up at least 10ah into the LFP and then slowly charged up the under hood AGM if it was low. 10ah is worth about 15% indicated SOC.

So based on my reading an H7 will fit the PB tray correct?

And I know this has to be a typo but it appears that NAPA has the H7 Odyssey for $22.99????

Your link shows $336 here. I wouldn't pay that much for any battery but any battery is better than Motorcraft the last few years.

Someone had asked how the LFP keeps voltage in winter so I got some parts to put it back in and keep an eye on it as we enter the teens. About to put the LFP back in, it's been in the freezer for the last few hours. I've got a BT batt monitor similar to what @Snakebitten has so we'll see what happens to voltages. Charged up both the truck batt and the LFP to mirror how it'd be after a short trip where both batts get to 100%.

Not sure why it thinks the batt is low. It's stabilized at 12.95v for now. It's been below 20 for hours and the batts are cold. 16f currently. AGMs fully charged were showing 12.4 w/ door / lights open/on. Completely unsure where it's getting 59% or being 'low'. Haven't played with this before, any insights Bruce?

Many here think Motorcraft had bad batches of batteries. That combined with trucks waiting on chip holds which is never good for any battery. Short lifespan but some have success with newer Motorcraft batteries.

More capacity doesn't hurt at all, so why not?

If it’s a batch of bad batteries the issue persists and in my case it’s not due to a chip shortage. My battery was made in the end of July 2023, I took delivery September and I’ve had the “service charging system soon” and the truck goes into deep sleep now that’s it’s colder even after a drive.

I keep sending lock / unlock commands to see if it's a surface voltage but no, it's holding over 13v when the truck goes back to sleep. Got down to 15 degrees so it's .25v lower than in summer temps.

From another post of mine testing how much each action consumes of the batts....
I've had 2 lighting approaches, 2 unlocks followed with 20 seconds before hitting lock again. So there's 2-2.5ah of energy lost overnight and it's still coming back up to 13.15v
