I just had this happen to my 2.7 this week. Truck's coming up on 3 years old. Fortunately I already have service booked in two weeks, hoping it will get me by til then but will have them check it out.

Truck rarely sits more than a day, almost all my drives are 30 min+. A little surprised this has come up.

I guess that`s where I`m at on things, you`re in Wyoming and I`m on the road a fair amount also. It`s 2 hours from my house to the nearest Walmart just for a perspective on distances. Breakdowns is no fun anywhere of course. My third ford battery will be out of warranty, 1 year in January. I`m going to do what you and Rick have rightfully pounded on and pull it even though its working now, and replace it with a bigger interstate. Was just hoping someone had a code or method of getting ford to help on the $ end just for the principal of things. It seems unreasonable to me that a new truck buyer has to replace batteries out of their pocket just to have a reliable vehicle but that`s just me I guess and I`m going to have to adjust my attitude to the new norm it appears. BTW. I`ve been hunting, guiding, fishing and trekking the Gros Ventre Range (grow-vont for non natives) for 35 years. Hope you made it through the fires ok and watch out for mr. griz.

Made it through the fires OK. I had listened to the Forest Service guys on home protections and got to work beginning some 7 weeks before. Went out and cut down a dozen plus sagebrush day by day. Fire ran out of fuel before it got to my house. Roosevelt Fire blew right around my house without burning it. :) ...And BTW When I replaced my battery I wasn't smart enough to try to fit a larger battery. I was on the road, so I just took the catalog (NAPA) listed battery that was on hand. I've had zero problems since. I think the standard batteries will serve just fine.

That was the worst fire in state history and being proactive might have even saved your life. I`m going to make a preempted strike on this battery issue and replace it. XLT so a little extra space in the tray. Napa here are dix so I`ll go Car Quest for the Interstate. I`ll see what $ dif is, I just want to make it through winter. I`ll get a new truck mid 25 so probably standard would serve the 9 months or so. Thanks for the tip.

I replaced mine while on the road for family Thanksgiving dinners and visits. I was distant from my dealer, whom I have a good relation with, so I chose to just pull into a nearby NAPA store. I've had good relations with the NAPA outfit over the years as the Navy moved me around. I just asked for their catalog replacement battery, dropped it in right there in the parking lot, and drove off (yeah, wasn't smart enough yet to know I should reset that battery monitor thingy). That was Thanksgiving '21. Now two Wyoming winters later (EG -20ºF mid-January thru early March), not a peep out of the truck electrical system since... So my take is: "Just Do It!" Don't get it, doesn't add up, but the apparent common thread is Ford vs Non-Ford batteries.:) ...And yeah, I was on my property when the fire went by... I'm sure the Sheriff was not happy with me since he'd ordered an evacuation, but I had effectively removed fuel for a 30-40 foot area around my place. I was amazed at how long the many spot fires burned after the main fire front went thru, they burned for several days.

You`re sort of a rebel to nearly get escorted off your property by the Sheriff. They weren't messing around back then either. I`m non PB so I don`t think I have the same resets as you. I`ve disconn`d and reconn`d my battery multiple times. When less than a year old, the truck seized up electrically and I called f service. They said to disc the batt for 24 hrs and recon it in the morning. I asked so are you guys going to send someone out here to do that for me then? Silence. It worked and restarted though. That`s why I could never recommend a ford anything to a woman. I can hear the call, Well ma'am, you're going to have to open the hood, disc the batt, cancel your plans for 24 hrs, recon the batt in the morning. If that doesn't do it, get it towed down here and we`ll roll you in with the others waiting 3 weeks. Too much hands on work for a single woman to own a ford. I got my wife`s girlfriend to cancel buying an expedition and into a Chevrolet Tahoe instead using my truck as an example of why she wouldn`t want a ford.
You guys are on top of this battery issue and I`m going to follow the leads to get it changed out before winter. Even though it`s working now and the truck is headed down the off ramp next year, it`s just not worth the risk to me and my family being cheap just because ford is.

That disconnect of the battery would have worked the same after 5 minutes. Wouldn't require 24 hours.

And a Ford is far from the only vehicle that could leave a woman stranded. GM products get towed to the shop too.

It is established under law that the Sheriff cannot force you to leave your property. You can choose to stand into danger. In my case I had assessed the risk and knew it was reasonable given the preparations I had made. Local firefighters were about and around getting people off endangered property, but they weren't near my property because the risk was low. I was very careful to not even take one step off my property since he could refuse to let me return to it. As to the battery disconnect thingy: You only need about 5 RC (or R/L) time constants to effect the de-energizing reset needed... That really occurs in 10-30 seconds usually. Snakebitten above alludes to that. In the case of a PB you need to disconnect both the main and small batteries to make a reset happen (the smaller battery is there to keep alive the volatile memory when the main battery is starting the engine - if you don't disconnect it also then you really don't reset everything).

I don`t dispute any of that Snake. Anything man made can and will fail. The time frame was 2021 and these trucks were new to buyers, dealers and the service people. Just like during 911 or covid , the same type confusion reigned during this truck`s release. There`s been more recalls and problems on this one truck of mine than all my other vehicles in my life combined including business vehicles, my wife`s vehicles plus both our ranching families vehicles. Suffice to say we`re talking over 100 vehicles and most all of them trucks. I could have bought the cheapest Yugo made and had a better vehicle experience than with this ford. ford service people and myself have been unable to get support from ford corporate multiple times to fix these problems and more than one of those still exist today. Then there`s the approximately 3 months lost vehicle use, not to mention lost time, wages, mileage, fuel, depreciation and getting ride support to and from dealerships because of said problems. That was my stance back then and I maintain that position today and owe an apology to no one. It might not hurt people to go all the way back and review this whole thread or section of the forum from the beginning up to now and see all the chaos that ensued when these were released, wholly caused and driven by ford`s poor quality, no product testing, sloppy engineering and lack of mechanic training. I`m not bashing a person but a company, and they deserve it. I appreciate your input.

Still glad you didn`t lose property or bodily injury. I spent some time on the battery issue today and learned some things. Interstate batteries no longer available locally plus there is some reset things that need to be done like you said. So once again you, Snake and Rick nailed it, probably be a NAPA battery. No price dif between h6 or h7. I`ll buy it and have dealership put it in. Be a service charge plus I always bring a couple of cases of beer for the service dept. I appreciate your help on all this. Like you said, it gets cold out there!

I say battery tender. I haven't had battery issues with my Powerboost, but I have with my hybrid Maverick. With a fully charged Maverick I have no issues. Based on this I got a tender for my Powerboost just in case. I only plug it in a once or twice per month for good measure. I don't find it inconvenient to do so.

Deep sleep mode has been basically constant since the 1 year mark of my 22. It's now 2 years and 3 months since production.

I picked up a new h8, but decided to test the BMS reset with the old battery. Going on day 5 with the new old battery still and no sleep modes, proximity lights working etc.

Not sure what to make of this. May just see i can eek it out to the 3 year mark before upgrading. There has never been an issue with starting or anything major, just an annoyance with sleep mode.

I feel like my battery issue was fixed by a software update earlier this year, then reintroduced with another software update roughly a month or so ago.
