Had the rear axles replaced yesterday on my '22 F-150. The "Rube Goldberg" Android Auto disconnection is still a problem. The phone still has service, but frequently disconnects from the truck. Ford says they're working on an update to fix that <wink wink> I'll be out of warranty before they have it. Also Ford is still refusing to replace a defective battery (2nd replacement) under warranty. Why should the owner have to purchase a battery when the vehicle is still under warranty. Ford Pass says truck has not been updated since May of 2023. Dealership says it is a Ford Pass issue, that it is up to date. Guess I am going to have to explore getting the software and cable to update it myself. I am so disappointed with Ford and this truck that I'll probably never buy another vehicle from them.
Save yourself a ton of time and effort and just go buy an upgraded/larger battery from NAPA (or wherever you want). I went NAPA H8 and it solved so many of the low power issues.

And I just disconnected the ford pass app and don’t miss it at all. Not worth the data harvesting ford does. Not that ford probably isn’t doing it anyways.

The battery was replaced once by Ford 18 months ago. And yes it shuts down after 24 hours in the garage. I'll be damned if I hook it to a maintainer/charger every time I pull it in the garage. That is just ridiculous to expect an owner to do.

But did they reset the BMS system? Chances are they didn't and if not and it could be the primary culprit and not the actual battery itself. I remember reading that Ford's BMS will after 24-36 months of operation will initiate module deep sleep to preserve an aging battery.

Try resetting the BMS and see if that helps. Also have the aux battery under the rear seat (if equipped) checked as it could be bad as well.

Lastly If you have access to it use Forscan and go into the BCM module (easy mode) to increase the battery SOC from Ford's low default 80% to 95-100%. AGM batteries are designed to be maintained at a much higher SOC than conventional lead acid batteries at around 95-97%. Update this setting, reset the BMS and put the battery on charge overnight to bring it up to the new SOC setting. Just make sure to put the negative charge cable on a body ground point so the BMS will see the charge and update itself.

If all this fails then go buy a new H7 or H8 battery from Walmart (around $150-180) and reset the BMS again and this should solve all the issues. Walmart batteries may be cheap, but they are just as if not more reliable than what you get at most parts houses for $100 more. Oh and they last forever too. I regularly get 5+ years of issue free service out of Walmart batteries. Plus you can't beat the exchange policy. Much better than Ford's OE batteries which are absolute crap.

I have the android disconnect issue too. I find that resetting the truck screen will get it connected - hold power and seek forward for ~10s. I'll vouch for others saying the phone could be the issue too. I've had several phone updates and some made it better and some made it worse, never fixed completely. This workaround helps me maybe 90% of the time.

The truck regularly reports to Ford Pass that Remote Features have been disabled to conserve battery power when it sits for a day or two, so I don't think the phone is the issue. Why can't Ford make a pure old truck with switches on the dash and throw out all the menus etc? Would that be too difficult? I use the phone to listen to Sirius XM since Ford couldn't incorporate it or the NAV package when the truck was built.
I like when you say.
"Why can't Ford make a pure old truck with switches on the dash and throw out all the menus etc?"
I originally ordered a 2025 King Ranch Expedition Max, it came in, I test drove it and just hated that stupid steering wheel, you got to use your thumb and drag it around this stupid button and move this cursor on your dash screen to set the stupid cruise, I couldn't get it to work and dam near rear ended someone also making me test the crash avoidance system. I just drove it back to Big West Ford and said keep it, it's a shame they design such a nice vehicle then put that stupid crap on it.

The problem with Motorcraft AGM batteries is absolutely the BMS charging strategy coulpled with over use from devices that use energy when shut off. "Maintaniers", improper charging, failure to charge through the BMS, and failure to reset the BMS are accelerating the failures.
If you can stand TFL, watch the battery voltage on the dash their Tremor during their Toaster test. All the way down to 12V, while driving! On a brand new truck. It's essentially a dead battery in a brand new operating truck, and the truck doesn't actually start charging it properly for quite a.few.minutes.

Does going to the H-8 from H-6 on a STX require any special changes in the system to charge the much larger battery or simply plug and play?

My phone disconnects from sync in the exact same spot while driving to town, it is a "hard handoff" between cell sites that fall in between "markets". Your phone may not go out of service but it may loose "data" service in which you wont notice. Now this is a real pain as you prob noticed many times your phone does not reconnect, a hard reboot will sometimes work or stop and shut down/restart.

Also is there a proper procedure for replacing the battery such as backing-up the settings of the radio with a small gel cell battery etc, and anything that you have to do to keep famed BMS module happy to accept the new battery?

What does TFL stand for? is it a web site or what?

Upgrade to a H8 battery OP, I bet a lot of your problems will go away.

I rarely drive my truck, and have never had any sleep issues or infotainment issues with a H8 battery.

I was looking at Walmart and they list the H-6 battery, the H-7 battery, but NOT a H-8 one. Of course I was using their look-up. They list several batteries with no H number.
